Can the bike cadence sensor work with the Connect app without the need for a suitable Garmin device?

I am thinking of buying a Garmin Bike cadence sensor for my static bike. Can I transfer the information to the Connect app without using a Garmin device. I have a Garmin vivosport which does not appear to work with the cadence sensor from what I have read. Any help or suggestions appreciated

I'm going to say no, However, I'm not 100% sure. You might want to look for an answer in the Accessories & Sensors forum, especially from tmk2
