Resolved - Only black screen after starting the app

Since half an hour the Garmin Connect iOS App starts only with a black screen. After reinstall the app it’s the same. It doesn’t work anymore. Has anyone an idea?

  • I’m not sure how Garmin can say that this is an Apple issue as Apple haven’t released any update for a month or more. Sorry Garmin but sounds to me like a case of not having a clue and blaming someone else because it’s easy. My app/phone is working fine whereas my wife’s which is identical is not.

I had this email from Garmin this morning:

We have an open ticket on this issue and are working with Apple to come up with a solution as fast as we can

In the mean time, I would suggest clearing the cache on your iPhone and attempting to open Garmin Connect with wifi disables, and report back to us whether or not this fixes your issue

I did this but still get black screen....

I had the same recommendation. Doesn't help.

Am assuming by clearing the cache they mean the app cache... in any event, does't seem to do anything. Same result.

Same issue here tried all the above and nothing worked ... from similar  issues with a work app that I was experienced in the past , technical support never got bck to me for weeks and weeks and only a complete factory reset of my iPad allowed to get bck on that app ... but I’m not going to that length....

Not a solution but more of a workaround...

1)Download app on different device login and sync...

This will allow you to upload you last excercises.

    2) On the problematic device , Login to Garmin Connect on Safari and save page ,this will give you visibility of all your data.

Not ideal but just to keep you going...

I had a tweet from Garmin UK earlier saying|: "We have identified the issue and we are actively pursuing an update with Apple and hope to have a release in the coming days to resolve this. Please see here for more details: ms.spr.ly/6010Tgyur Thanks for your patience in the meantime."

To reiterate some previous advice if you can plug in your device into your computer and open Garmin Express it will sync as normal and download your activity to Garmin Connect (and Strava if that's of interest)

  • Hello Everyone, I wanted to let you know that this has been resolved in a recent update to the Garmin Connect App (4.29.2) and you should be able to download the update in the next few hours.
