Unable to Sync, Weather Stuck. IOS 13.2, GCM 4.24.1.

New thread for latest GCM.

After installing, everything works initially.  But give it a few hours and you will once again get sync errors, and also notice that your weather is stuck.  No updates to it or the temperature.

I went through all the steps needed to install this new update.

Uninstalled GCM

Forgot Watch in Bluetooth

Rebooted phone and watch.

Installed everything again.

Initially you will think it works, but just give it time.  Same old  problems, nothing fixed.  Honestly, do they even test this stuff.

I'm back to doing a WiFi sync to get things back in order.

My weather has said waiting for data for 3 days. That’s a long time to wait!

    1.  I thought the same after the update ... I reset the clock(garmin marq captain) to factory settings ,deleted it from the bluetooth settings ,deleted both Gcm and Gcm iq applications and took it from 0. The weather worked exactly until the next synchronization ... behaves like a alpha program not even beta can say ... is inadmissible !!!

How do you do a WiFi sync?

It downloaded fine the first time for me, but temperature never changed. When I disconnected and reconnected is went straight to waiting for data. 4 days and counting no matter what I do. I even updated the app on my phone...

  • I gave up.  No more watch resets for me.  It takes too long to get things how I need them, including 5 gigs of music I have to put back on.

  • Try Garmin Express. Worked for me to sync. Pretty annoying to have to take the watch off and plug into a desktop though.

The weather is still a no-go obviously.

To answer your other question, no they don't test this stuff. Not well enough. You should see the email chain I had with support about syncing behavior and the Instinct watch. They had to go ask their developers how it should be working.

  • Weather is still not working for me on my FR 945. Watch still displays “waiting for data.” I’ve followed all of the troubleshooting steps, multiple times, without any lasting effect. Unbelievable. What gives?

I run in the South Florida heat, and I’m now no longer 100% acclimated (lol) and I’m getting docked as a result lol.

  • Same issue on Fenix 6: weather widget says “waiting for data”. Unpairing and repairing fixes it temporarily but reverts after next sync. Super bummer, I’m surprised how clunky this all is.

Any chance someone from Garmin can join in this discussion. It’s obvious that this is a big problem... I bought a Garmin because of the brand reputation for quality. I’m starting to wonder where I heard this. Way too many problem out of the box for a $250 watch. Thinking I should have bought an Apple Watch!

  • haha , i payd 1850€ and i have the same issue but I went through the dissatisfaction phase because you have no other better option . I tried them all and it's like comparing a tool watch vs toy watch !
