Map is dark after iOS13 update

After updating to iOS13 the standard map looks too dark and is very hard to read. Can we have the old one back???

I just noticed that today too - I don’t think it’s the iOS 13 update doing it because it was fine after that. It looks to me that the maps have been switched to Apple maps instead of Google - if anyone…

Well look at that... I just got an app update for Garmin Connect and the maps are now showing up light once again! They are still using Apple maps, but I never had a complaint about that. Yay for lighter…

It is more complicated than you described it.

First I do not have Apple maps on my iphone, I removed it a long time ago.

Thus it is a bit strange that GC can use it, but it obviously neglects it, just…

Seems like Garming switched to using apple maps from google maps. Knowing apple...they probably forced them.

I can see that a lot of people suggest that it is Apple maps. I agree.

When you select ‘display & brightness’ Dark Mode in Apple settings, then open the Maps app the maps are dark. When you select light mode, apple maps are light.

What Garmin hasn’t done is align Connect to the Apple ‘display & settings.

Dark or white, master issue is apple maps are worst than google!!!!

Thus it is a bit strange that GC can use it, but it obviously neglects it, just download the map tiles directly from interweb.

Moreover being dark is not the main problem, but the lack of unpaved roads. As regards my country apple maps mean the paved roads and not more.

By the way choosing between maps would be the ideal solution. The majority of people would opt for OSM anyway, since it is much better as regards the area where real outdoor activities happen.

Die schwarze Karte ist einfach nur schrecklich, es fehlen Wege und wenn es nicht geändert wird, ist ein Grund, meine Garmin Uhr zu verkaufen.

Interesting enough - the "My Day" activity map is the dark mode Apple map; however, my courses all show up in Google maps? Agree with the majority - dark Apple maps is terrible!
