Live Track Bug - 4.19 Update

Hello Everyone!

        There was a new update that came out 3 days ago (May 28, 2019). Has anybody still having the Problem with the Live Track issue? When you start your ride, your Live track automatically tells Strava (If you have it enabled)  to send its beacon to your contacts? It shows "Live Track Failed" on your Garmin device or your contact gets the link and it says "Status Activity Not Started".  I am still currently having that same problem on my Edge 1000. I always use the Live Track because my Parents wants to see where I am going, Without this feature my parents are very apprehensive of where I am at  while Mountain Biking. Makes me feel like I can't ride anywhere by myself just in case something happens. This is a very crucial feature for my safety and my parents safety. 

I've tried:

- Deleting the App, then Reinstalling it.

- Unpaired the Bluetooth between the my IPhone and the Garmin, and repaired it.

- Restart the whole Garmin

- Updated the Garmin using Garmin Express.

All of the options have failed/didn't work.

  • Please reply if it is working or  discuss more about this bug.
  • Hopefully this issue will be fixed as soon as possible.

UPDATE: Strava Beacon Livetrack is now working as of May 14, 2020

    Same here. I am beginning to suspect it is the watch itself now. Me and my partner both have the same Garmin forerunner 735xt. His one works perfectly from day one always going auto live-track when ever he start a run/cycle activity. He even done run without taking his phone with him and it still works perfectly. Mine never have any luck. I have to manually turn it off and on from the app but it is still hit and miss. I was running cycle next to him. I got a message from his watch saying he is now on liveteacking. While i am not. (I am next to you!)

    After attending another event next week i will write to Garmin repair centre and ask them to physically check my watch. I no longer suspect this is a phone/watch connection issue.

    Ive got the same problem, and have sent Garmin files etc. Using a new Edge 1030. Was told to download the latest GC App (4.2) and it worked!

    But two rides later it has. stopped again. Won't even activate Strava Beacon.

    Is it the app or device, as never had an issue with my old Edge 1000?

    The behaviour I see actually is that Livetrack starts with a delay of 8 minutes. But yesterday the app didn’t crash during the activity as usual.

    Livetrack is still not working at all. The autostart feature works only half of the time. Yesterday the app crashes 4 times during an bicycle activity. That’s going on for months now. Meanwhile all the critical comments around that buggy functionality got deleted as far as I can see. That helps much - thanks!

    I need to correct myself. Garmin didn’t delete any critical comments. I got confused because there are so many threads with this topic, that I didn’t find the older comments. That doesn’t make it any better, but at least there is no censorship! Sorry for that!

    Had two rides in a row with working autostart. As you write, it started with a delay. Also had no notification on my watch, that it started, only on the Edge.

    Well, subsequent two rides I had nothing, not even an error that LiveTrack could not be started.

    Drives me nuts.

    For the latest 10 outdoor activities the LiveTrack always started within 30" or so from my 645 with 5.90. For me at least the issue has been fixed.

    I experience the issues with a combination of a Fenix 5X with 13.40 installed a Garmin Connect 4.21.0.19 on an iPhone 6SE with the latest iOS.

    Still not fixed. Sometimes it is working (although with a significant delay after start) and sometimes only "LiveTrack failed". Edge 820 and iPhone XS.

    Ive found since I went into location settings on the phone and for the Garmin app set them to always on (Not just while using  the app) things have behaved better with my Edge 520
