Garmin Connect prompts me to setup Vivosmart 4 every time I open the app

Every time I open my Garmin Connect app it congratulates me on buying a Vivosmart 4 and prompts me to set it up. I’ve been using a Vivosmart 4 since October. Its been working fine. Nothing has changed in my setup except 3 days ago Garmin Connect App updated.

I have tried to go through the setup on my Vivosmart 4 again to see if that would make the prompts disappear, but the next time I open the app it wants me to setup the Vivosmart 4 again. I also own a Fenix 5s and an Edge 1030 and both of those are fine. They are not getting prompted to setup again.

I wouldn’t mind since it is working in every other way, but each time I open the app I must click through two setup screens to get to my data. Anyone know how to fix this? Or is it going to take an update to the app?

I don't understand what's taking so long. Do they not think there are enough users affected? Do they not know HOW to fix the issues? Or do they not care?
  • Same here - on behalf of my wife who is not really amused with it.

(There always needs to exist one small but annoying flaw...)
  • I just switched from android to iPhone last week and have had the problem ever since. Interested in knowing when it’s fixed.

After a week of pinging with local support I got a reply that my case was sent to Garmin support headquarters. Still no reply. Pretty obvious that this fault was caused by the last app update and it’s a shame that this problem was not solved for four weeks and all customers’ questions dropped into absolute ignorance.

same thing happening with my new device but I am just tapping not now and since the settings aren’t resetting it’s just 2 taps to get rid of the pop up for me. No crashing or other abnormal behaviour so far.
  • Finally, todays app update solves the issue .... :-)

Finally got the new app update today. Still can't get the watch face to display so I don't know why I'm the only one with this issue.
  • Well, app got updated yesterday but now stopped sync'ing (seeing) wife's vivosmart via Bluetooth completely despite iPhone reporting that it's connected. Also, long-time stats does not seem available either.

    Ideas?

EDITED TO ADD: Obviously ended up removing and reinstalling Connect app, with having to input most of the setup details again and Bluetooth re-pairing added as a bonus. Mildly annoyed (on Sun morning too!) but now it's sorted.
  • Thankfully with the new version (4.17) of the IOS app the problem has been sorted. The version was released 6 days ago.

In the Dutch translation I see a minor sloppy error in the sleep data page. It says I have slept for 7 minutes and 34 minutes
