OK, here is the fix that worked on my Fenix 5x.
I spent 30 min on hold with Garmin CS and they said to do the following which actually worked. On your iPhone:
Settings/Notifications/Messages select "Always…
I'm having issues with my Forerunner 235 too. I've found that each morning I have to go to Settings > Bluetooth > Smart Notifications > Status on my watch and toggle it off and on again.
I haven't researched further but I'm curious if it's related to the overnight DND I have setup on my iPhone.
I have DND switched on and I haven't been having the issue. So I don't think it effects the notifications.
I received a few emails from Garmin but they listed the same steps already taken.
I got an iPhone 11 Pro in October and have not had the problem that I did with my previous iPhone (7).
If I ever have the problem again, I will go thru all the steps to ensure it works; but it's frustrating bc I'm not sure which step actually fixes the problem. Maybe it takes all of them?
