[Help/Rant] Garmin Connect syncs but activity does not shows up?

Be new user of Fenix 5S. Two days gym hypertrophy training.
Yesterday sync was fine. Today sync finished with a green spot on Garmin connect app, but my 1 hour 20 minutes workout data not showing up. Cool beans, 50% failure rate.
Tried everything: iOS latest version, firmware seems updated to 4.9.0.14 last night by itself. Disconnect wifi, blue tooth, restart iPhone, restart app. Sync over and over again. The activity data can be found in the watch, just refuse to appear on Garmin connect app or web version.
Try to locate and search if there is force sync option, didn't find any.
Try to search on watch if there is manual upload option from activities, didn't find any.

Fine...Manually edit online, 25 different weight training activities with time/reps/weight/name (and there is no such thing called "close grip bent over barbell row" according to Garmin's search result), plus an indoor rowing without a field to fill in strokes per minute...

Earlier today tried to link the Garmin with Nike Run Club, failed like 10 times (coz I tried 10 times of mini run), finally succeeded after I unlink then link again...

Feeling painful and pathetic, felt I had better experience without this device...
Don't really need to know how many steps I do everyday anyways.

Do this kind of things happen a lot? Software failures? Sync failures? Any suggestions for this type data losing during sync but stored fine locally on the watch?
  • I am also having trouble fixing a corrupt .fit file.  Would you mind taking a look to see if you can fix it?  I would really appreciate any help you can offer. [link deleted]

I created a .zip file to upload to this site, but when I went to the "insert" option, there was no option for me to upload a file (?).  I hope the link I have provided above works.

  • In response to my own post, I used fitfiletools and successfully opened the file. The problem, though, continued:  when I tried to manually upload the file to Garmin Connect, I got the same error as before:  "

"An error occurred with your upload. Please try again."

Any help to address this so I can upload the file would be much appreciated.

  • I can't get the file into Garmin via normal bluetooth syncing with my phone, and I cannot manually upload it--I keep getting the error code "An error occurred with your upload. Please try again."

Any ideas what I can do to get past this error since it seems like the file isn't corrupt?

  • Well you were spot on.  I kept trying to upload the activity, kept getting the error, and then magically the upload worked.  The only think I did was keep trying.  Go figure.  Anyway, I really appreciate your taking a look and giving me your guidance.

  • so disappointed.

this morning after my daily run, i've tried to sync my garmin fenix. And it was during the outage of 22/09.

i've plugged my watch on my computer, navigating into ../Library/Application Support/Garmin/Express/RegistedDevices/xxx/PendingSyncUploads/Garmin/Activity .. and the folder is totally empty. (oc my activity is only available on my watch)

is there a way to force my watch to put an activity to this folder? (unless if Garmin's outage has broken some activities server-side - which is totally possible - and which could be fixed by Garmin team)

  • Fetch the file from the watch and import it into Garmin Connect.

  • Yes it tooks a part of my night to do it.

    But it's alright now.

    ---

I used Android File Transfer on my Mac. Navigated into ACTIVITY directory and find the fit file with the date corresponding to my activity.

on the Garmin Connect Web App - Side, i uploaded the file, and voilà !
