Duplicate entries in Apple Health

I am on iOS 11 with the latest version of Garmin Connect. When looking in Apple Health I see lots of duplicate entries (same time and duration) from Garmin Connect in my activities. A quick Google shows people were having this issue back in 2015 but I've not seen any simple solution to stop it from happening and it is becoming more and more irritating.

I know Apple Health may not be the best application but I use it as a central repository.

Does anyone have a simple solution for this (other than buying an Apple Watch and using a Wahoo Tickr with the watch).

thanks

Alex

    Dear Garmin-team,

Today I did two test workouts (run 0,9 km and walking 2,5). Outcomes are as follows:

1/ for some reasons workout entries are not duplicated in Apple health.

2/ there seems to be double counting in walking+running section. In steps section of garmin app I have 8 thousand of steps and 6,57 distance which I believe include the distance of workouts that I’ve completed.

However in Apple health indicated distance of 9,8 km

3/ there is no cardio data on garmin workouts in activity app. It’s an error at the garmin side given that for activities uploaded from other cardio data are presented correctly.

    Screenshots are attached

    P.S.

walking+running distance is still presented as a single number and its very weird.

    I have to continue.

Section active calories. My understanding that this section should contain calories burned during the workouts.

    According to Garmin its 122 + 268.

Apple health indicates 1328 and has entries for 122, 268 and 938(!!!)

I noticed that entries for 122 and 268 has start time and end time.
while entry for 938 doesn’t have them. So this entry shouldn’t be in this section.

    screenshots are attached.

Very strange feeling when you bought watch for 600$ and spend evening hours on describing bugs that exists for years without any feedback on timeframe for fixing them

  • These issues seem to be unrelated to the duplicate entries issue as in the subject of this thread.

I think that background is similar — poor integration with Apple Health API.

and BTW there is a duplication of data In walking+running distance and for active calories

  • Understood, but if you're having issues with the way calories are being reported, there are numerous threads on that.

Understood. I will look into that.

I think that calories in Garmin are reported correctly. The issue is how they are transferred to Apple Health.

Garmin team needs to write a proper mechanism for transferring all type of data to apple health. This will help to fix many issues reported on this forum

  • Most of the posts regarding calories and interfaces can be found in the Garmin Connect Web forum, since it is related to the API in general, not specifically GC Mobile iOS (this forum) or android. Or you can pose a question there.

    Sorry, I can’t agree with you :)

I’m perfectly fine with the way data reported on Garmin Web or Garmin App for iOS.

I’m complaining with the way this data are transferred to Apple Health.
Given that data is transferred by Garmin iOS app the key to resolve issues discussed in this topic (duplicate entries, duplicate data, etc.) is within this app

  • Apple health indicates 1328 and has entries for 122, 268 and 938(!!!)

I noticed that entries for 122 and 268 has start time and end time.
while entry for 938 doesn’t have them. So this entry shouldn’t be in this section.

Could you post a screenshot of the Calories page from your Garmin Connect app for the 12th May?
