Garmin Connect Not Showing As Source In Apple Health

Hi, I have searched around a bit and this seems to be a fairly common issue, but I can't find a solution...

When I go to Sources in Apple Health, Garmin Connect isn't listed there. I've tried restarting both apps and making sure Connect is running when I launch Health, but it's not in there. Am I doing something wrong?

I am considering buying a Fenix soon, but if I won't be able to sync to Apple Health then I would consider getting an Apple Watch instead...
  • Unfortunately, the privacy ?fix? is only temporary. After a day, it stops working until you change who can see your profile again. Really annoying.
  • I'm having the same issue. Tried reinstalling the app, tried changing privacy settings multiple times. Still no joy.

Here is a solution / one that worked for me

I had Connect syncing with Apple Health but did a restore from factory settings on my 7+ to iOS 10.3.2
Installed Connect, not showing as a source in Health.

i played around with privacy settings in Connect. As soon as I changed

    Who can view my profile

    from

    Only me

    to

    Everyone

Health automatically opened with source settings for all Connect categories

note i changed the other 2 privacy settings before Profile, I am assuming it was the Profile setting that triggered Health since it opened immediately after changing it.
Guessing that I could now change privacy settings back to me and sync would still work now that it?s a source in Health but have not tested

(goofy formatting above, got sync working but not quotation marks in this comment)

    Works like a charm!

another one GC, but still doesn't work ...
  • Thanks mbnorrie, your solution works!

Just go into profiles privacy settings and switch "who can view my profile" to another setting. Go back (and save) and Health pops up automaticly where you can activate write and read access for connect
  • Just got a new iPhone. Have made multiple attempts to get GC to show up in Health.

Changed ?who can view my profile? and ?who can view my activities? each, several times. Saved, quit the app, all that.

Delete and reinstalled GC, no luck.

Looked for any relevant privacy settings, no luck.

    Any other ideas?

I’ve not had any success either. This doesn’t seem to work for me. I’ve tried this on iPhone 7plus and my iPhone X and neither work. I’m also having trouble trying to connect with Facebook/Twitter with live track getting the message that a Facebook/Twitter account is not setup on this iOS device. I’m not sure what that means. These two things have been driving me nuts and Garmin is no help.
  • I have the Forerunner 620. Is the issue here that only certain devices are compatible with Apple Health?
I can't see Garmin Connect as a source, but there is also nothing in the application that allows you to enable sharing with Apple so I wondered if it was triggered by the device.
I have tried to uninstall Connect, change privacy settings etc...

In my case (i have only Edge 25 bike comp) the tip is connect another device (Forerunner) and BINGO! GC showed in sources of apple health. Result: GC non shows if only one device (bike comp) attached to GC
  • I tried the suggestion and it is still not showing up on the health app on my iPhone X. deleted the app, reinstalled, rebooted the phone, you name it. one thing I don't get is when people say ... change your setting and the SAVE.. in the connect App in the phone. I don't have a SAVE button in the app.

One thing that might be a hurtle in my case is that I am using a 301XT forerunner that is old. I sync it to connect on my desktop through the USB stick. and then all run, bike, heart rate data shows up flawlessly in the connect dashboard (and also pushed to Strava, not that it matters in the iOs health App case).

I confess the Fenix 5 does look really nice but I am really leaning towards the new iWatch with LTE and should probably do a lot more research on that. Thank you
