Garmin Connect Not Showing As Source In Apple Health

Former Member

Hi, I have searched around a bit and this seems to be a fairly common issue, but I can't find a solution...

When I go to Sources in Apple Health, Garmin Connect isn't listed there. I've tried restarting both apps and making sure Connect is running when I launch Health, but it's not in there. Am I doing something wrong?

I am considering buying a Fenix soon, but if I won't be able to sync to Apple Health then I would consider getting an Apple Watch instead...

    I also have this problem.

Connect is installed and not showing up as a data-source in Apple Health.

My phone is on Dutch local settings (iphone 7, latest fw)

Also still not seeing Connect in the Apple Health app, but in GC it says it will share with Health app.

    Very disappointing.

Here is a solution / one that worked for me

I had Connect syncing with Apple Health but did a restore from factory settings on my 7+ to iOS 10.3.2
Installed Connect, not showing as a source in Health.

i played around with privacy settings in Connect. As soon as I changed

    Who can view my profile

    from

    Only me

    to

    Everyone

Health automatically opened with source settings for all Connect categories

note i changed the other 2 privacy settings before Profile, I am assuming it was the Profile setting that triggered Health since it opened immediately after changing it.
Guessing that I could now change privacy settings back to me and sync would still work now that it?s a source in Health but have not tested

(goofy formatting above, got sync working but not quotation marks in this comment)
  • Thanks mbnorrie, your solution works!
Just go into profiles privacy settings and switch "who can view my profile" to another setting. Go back (and save) and Health pops up automaticly where you can activate write and read access for connect
  • Thank you, mbnorrie - your solution worked perfectly! I was so frustrated!

    Kind regards/Mike

For your information: I don't se above issue using latest iOS v10.3.3 (6s) and latest GCM v3.20..0.26. It works without changing the privacy settings.

Sync stopped working for me a few weeks ago but Connect was still in the sources list. I have iOS 10.3.3 and Connect 3.20.0.26 installed. I changed my Connect profile and activities privacy settings to everyone and sync started to work again. Weird and frustrating! Thanks to mbnorrie and Markus for pointing me in the right direction!

This worked for me where I am running iOS 11 beta and GC. I had already upgraded to iOS 11 and Apple Health was working fine. I then had to delete GC for an unrelated reason and when I reinstalled it, it would not show up as an Apple Health source until I changed my GC Profile settings from My Connections to Everyone. The instant I made that change, Apple Health popped up with the option to Allow GC as a source. Problem solved. Thank you very much for your research and for sharing those results.
