I’m facing the same issue. The Connect app runs and drains battery in background for many hours a day. Two days ago it peaked at 55% of battery draining during background activities.
I denied Bluetooth…
I have had the same issue on iOS since January. Prior to that the Connect app had been working fine for a couple of years. I spoke to Garmin customer support today and sent them a diagnostic from the Connect…
I chatted with Garmin Support just now. Here is what they recommended:
Location: When Using
Backgroupnd App Refresh: Off
Force close app when not using
The issue has been reported for years and they have done nothing to fix it. Call Garmin support and complain ... return the device if you are still able.
The app is garbage. Here it is 2023 and these people still couldn't figure out a away to fix it! The worst customer service of any major brand that I have encountered. Unbelievable that something like this could go on for years with countless online complaints and reports and still not be fixed.

Thanks. That seems to help.
It worked fine for a while and now it started draining battery again. A couple of days ago, the phone was fully charged and a listened to podcasts for about an hour. The battery dropped by 10%. Checking the battery settings, it turned out that most of that was the Connect app.
I denied Bluetooth permissions again.
They have been in touch with me and I have submitted diagnostics a few times. At this time, the problem still persists, and it has not been resolved.
I have the same problem with the latest iOS app update. Almost 100 % background activity 24/7.
Most of the marks that purchase these watches don't seem to care or notice, which is why problems like this are simply ignored and never addressed.
