LiveTrack Issues

Since the latest Garmin Connect update on iOS, LiveTrack is now just about completely useless.

The beginning of the ride shows up and that's it.

Since this problem, I have:

1) Uninstalled Garmin Connect and re-installed it
2) Unpaired / Paired Edge 1000 to iPhone
3) Factory Reset on Edge 1000

Many people with Edge 1000s have the same problem. See Edge 1000 Forum (https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?354317-LiveTrack-Issues)

All components are on latest software/firmware.

Also, at the end of the ride, the autosync feature no longer works. In fact, stopping the iOS app and/or restarting the Edge 1000 fails to make it sync. I must power down the iPhone, restart it, then restart the Edge 1000 and Garmin Connect and I will get it to sync.

Furthermore, *IF* the iPhone goes through an area where there is no cell service, the iOS app never reconnects to the Garmin servers and the ride dies there...

Ideas / Comments ?
  • Garmin has received reports of LiveTrack not working properly. Teams are investigating the root cause so that this can be resolved. We apologize for any inconvenience.

@SHAWN: Please pass on the following issue: If during the ride, the cyclist goes through an area where there is NO cell signal, LiveTrack often does not reconnect and continue the ride when cell signal is re-acquired. Garmin must support this condition. Not all areas have cell signal or decent data cell signal.
  • I will reach out to the team and let them know your concerns. Thank you.
  • I've tried LiveTrack with my Edge 510, VivoActive and VivoActive HR and the same issue with them all, no LiveTrack and trying to reconnect. Using iPhone 6+.
  • I appreciate Shawns comments. At least it's an indication that the issue is being taken seriously. Is there any indication as per when the issue will be fixed?
My wife always gets worried when I'm out on the long runs in the woods. Live track helps to calm her down ;)
  • Thanks

Edge520& GCM live track, Lost Signal

    Using Edge520 (6.20) with IPhone 6S (9.3.2) & GCM (3.7.0.7).

I was having 0 problems until about three weeks ago with Live track indicating "lost signal trying to reconnect" after either 5 minutes and recently immediately after the prompt is received by the remote viewer.

I contacted CS and they had me do a reboot to no avail.

Subsequently, My glitch was added to their mass fix group.

I purchased this (second) Garmin primarily for live track and Strava segment prompts.

All else works well. There are other location finders. However, I found live track superior (when it worked).

Very frustrating when a device feature works well then fails.

This is just pretty much a "me too" post.
iPhone 6S+, iOS 9.3.3, Connect v3.7.0.7, VivoActive with v3.70 firmware.
Everyone on my notify list says they get a LiveTrack connection issue after getting the email.
I use this as a safety feature - very worrying!!

Also, the popup telling me that a Twatter account is not set up on my phone is still driving me batsh*t-crazy every time a LiveTrack session finishes...!!!!!!

It's bad enough that LiveTrack is not working, but why the hell would I want to publicly announce where a lone-woman out exercising can be found and attacked to all and sundry by using Twatter (or FaceBork for that matter)?!!!

Great to know that the LiveTrack issue is being looked into though.
I exercise in some pretty remote locations on occasions, and the lack of LT is a big concern.

    Live track failing in Maine

Until I came to Maine from CA three weeks ago with my Edge 810, Live Track worked well and my husband could watch me, his 72 year old wife out alone on the roads. Now it goes off after three or four miles and never reconnects. I am doing everything the same as before.

    Is Garmin responding at all?

    Same for me, 735XT + iPhone 6.

Shows a connection error while the activity is going (for someone trying to view), but then all fine after i've stopped and synced. Not much point in livetrack at that point though.
