LiveTrack Issues

Since the latest Garmin Connect update on iOS, LiveTrack is now just about completely useless.

The beginning of the ride shows up and that's it.

Since this problem, I have:

1) Uninstalled Garmin Connect and re-installed it
2) Unpaired / Paired Edge 1000 to iPhone
3) Factory Reset on Edge 1000

Many people with Edge 1000s have the same problem. See Edge 1000 Forum (https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?354317-LiveTrack-Issues)

All components are on latest software/firmware.

Also, at the end of the ride, the autosync feature no longer works. In fact, stopping the iOS app and/or restarting the Edge 1000 fails to make it sync. I must power down the iPhone, restart it, then restart the Edge 1000 and Garmin Connect and I will get it to sync.

Furthermore, *IF* the iPhone goes through an area where there is no cell service, the iOS app never reconnects to the Garmin servers and the ride dies there...

Ideas / Comments ?
  • i have the same problem with my edge 1000, since 10 day impossible to follow live track, always "connection problems".
But i've tried also with a forerunner 920xt, and also my friend, with an edge 510 and another iphone, the same issue.
So it is a server problem!
  • +1 to Live track not working

I have a Edge 1000 (latest FW) and iPhone 6 (latest iOS and app). I recently added a Varia and thought that might be the problem. I have ridden with and without the Varia turned on but the same thing happens as everyone else. It either never shows my route or fails with a disconnect after a few miles. My wife has taken screen shots when she is trying to track me.

Live track is one of the top reasons I bought an Edge 1000, since my wife loves this feature. Garmin, if you are listening, PLEASE MAKE THIS WORK AGAIN!

    Thanks
  • Edge 1000 with iPhone 5; latest version of Connect Mobile. Livetrack tracks for only a few miles, then (without error messages on either the phone or the Edge) tracking ceases.

I've been seeing the same dropping during LiveTrack since the last sw update from Garmin. Everything current and resetting everything and restarting the phone before starting a ride makes no difference. Always fails, every ride.

At least before the update I knew that the Connect sw had to be the app running in front for the LiveTrack to not always fail. Now it fails every time. Plus, I really hate the app trying to tell me to enable twitter to access Garmin Connect every single time I start LiveTrack. I come back to the app after a ride and the Twitter dialog box is there.

It was flaky software before but what's the point of LiveTrack if it fails 15 minutes into all my rides?

    Live Track is now worthless

    Garmin EDGE 510
    iPhone iOS 9.3.2
    Garmin Connect 3.7.0.7

No one can follow my Live Tracks even though I have excellent cell coverage. All they get is "No signal". Users are on iPhones, Macbook's, and Windows PC. It doesn't matter what platform they are using it's always the same "No signal".

I really miss the old stable Garmin of years ago when Live Track ALWAYS worked.

Yup, same here with latest versions of GCM iOS and iPhone 6.

In fact, the latest version of GCM iOS just about broke everything....
  • Same issue by here.
iPhone 5s with last iOS, edge 1000 with latest fw (8.3) and latest GCM.
As I said in the edge 1000 thread, it's an iOS app fail.

    Garmin fix it please!
  • Garmin has received reports of LiveTrack not working properly. Teams are investigating the root cause so that this can be resolved. We apologize for any inconvenience.

    FAILed again today....

Another ride with LiveTrack enabled... died again at the 17 minute mark. I seem to recall it also died on the last ride at the 17 minute mark, and the 15 minute mark before that. Different places, different conditions. This is incredibly frustrating. I'm using an up to date iPhone 6s.

Good to see Garmin is responding/investigating.

THANK YOU SHAWN for posting it in the forum as it helps knowing something is going on.
