LiveTrack Issues

Since the latest Garmin Connect update on iOS, LiveTrack is now just about completely useless.

The beginning of the ride shows up and that's it.

Since this problem, I have:

1) Uninstalled Garmin Connect and re-installed it
2) Unpaired / Paired Edge 1000 to iPhone
3) Factory Reset on Edge 1000

Many people with Edge 1000s have the same problem. See Edge 1000 Forum (https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?354317-LiveTrack-Issues)

All components are on latest software/firmware.

Also, at the end of the ride, the autosync feature no longer works. In fact, stopping the iOS app and/or restarting the Edge 1000 fails to make it sync. I must power down the iPhone, restart it, then restart the Edge 1000 and Garmin Connect and I will get it to sync.

Furthermore, *IF* the iPhone goes through an area where there is no cell service, the iOS app never reconnects to the Garmin servers and the ride dies there...

    LiveTrack Failing

To confirm the Edge 810 has not been connecting at all lately and just prompts for a refresh. I reset everything from profile to express and it showed the activity for about 20 minutes then cut off again and didn't come back (the wife kept checking over a 4 hour period).

There are obvious safety needs for this function when people are out on their own over long distances so Garmin should fix as a priority as this seems to have gone on now for months. As mentioned in the other reply I have told all charity donors they can follow my activity and several were planning on attending at the time I would pass through the route, but now they have no way of knowing my progress. The charity also use the app to help see where the riders are to offer assistance.

Can someone from Garmin tell me if this is an Edge 810 issue (i.e. will buying a new version solve the issue?) or if this is something you can fix by Friday please.

    Another successful Live Track session...

Had another LiveTrack session that worked on a short 25 mi hop in the nasty Texas (107F heat index) weather.
    GCM 3.8.0.20, Garmin Edge 520, iPhone 6.
Still happy I didn't update to GCM 3.8.2, but c'mon Garmin, WTF, fix this thing!
  • Tested 810 live track

Tested LT today with a commute ride. I have the whole track recorded. But didn't get my statistics like heart rate, speed and cadence.
  • Well, it's been two weeks now of everything running smoothly. Garmin Connect 3.8.2 on iOS 9.3.3, Vector 2 4.0, and Edge 1000 8.30.

LiveTrack works fine, doesn't drop or stop through areas where there is no cell support. I syncs properly and quickly (with Strava) as soon as I end the ride.

Surprised and happy and it all seems to work well. Hope others are seeing similar results.

    Fixed....

At least for me, it's been playing nicely on my Edge 520 since early last week. I don't know if it helped, but I uninstalled it then re-downloaded it from the Apple Store. Now if I could just get the random BT disconnects figured out.

    LiveTrack Saga...

Still running GCM 3.8.0.20, Garmin Edge 520, iPhone 6 with no issues. Even the Twitter notifications have ceased, which is odd because I was getting them initially. It appears some are having success with GCM 3.8.2 but I'll remain using 3.8.0.2 out of fear for the near term.

    What's wrong with me!!! :(
(OK, it was by accident - was a huge list and I just pushed the Update All button before noticing it!)

    I didn't even know 3.9.0 was available.
Best of luck and would love to hear from others trying 3.9.0

    GCM 3.9.0 - Reports?

Are there any reports out there on the functionality of GCM 3.9.0?
I'm still using 3.8.0.2 because it's been working reliably for weeks. It did just start sending out two duplicate email notifications though. :-/

    Thx
