LiveTrack Issues

Since the latest Garmin Connect update on iOS, LiveTrack is now just about completely useless.

The beginning of the ride shows up and that's it.

Since this problem, I have:

1) Uninstalled Garmin Connect and re-installed it
2) Unpaired / Paired Edge 1000 to iPhone
3) Factory Reset on Edge 1000

Many people with Edge 1000s have the same problem. See Edge 1000 Forum (https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?354317-LiveTrack-Issues)

All components are on latest software/firmware.

Also, at the end of the ride, the autosync feature no longer works. In fact, stopping the iOS app and/or restarting the Edge 1000 fails to make it sync. I must power down the iPhone, restart it, then restart the Edge 1000 and Garmin Connect and I will get it to sync.

Furthermore, *IF* the iPhone goes through an area where there is no cell service, the iOS app never reconnects to the Garmin servers and the ride dies there...

Only just noticed this update (thanks to your post!).
In other news, the constant bugs in Connect and the latest non-updating of exercise info (specifically calorie edits on the website version), have finally pushed me to another company.

Just ordered a Suunto Spartan Ultra Stealth Titanium HR

    WELL DONE GARMIN!!!
    Another permanently lost customer.
    (Smiley-face post icon, just because...)

I can't blame you at all. If the reviews for the new range of Suunto devices are good then I'll do the same.

It's a crying shame. Garmin's hardware is generally pretty good and quite innovative. It is just let down by awful, untested software :(

So sorry to hear this. I thought we were getting this thing straightened out.

For the love of God, how can this happen?? (again). Do they not have any QC? What about all of the new 820 owners? I bet they aren't very happy? Madness, utter madness. If my company released software in this 'state' we'd have no customers left!

Are we going to have to wait for another hardware release before we get another update??

You get the feeling that the fitness 'arm' of Garmin Plc is just the poorer brother of the bigger corporation that gets no funding and no budget to actually make decent products/software.

    Complete ride with 3.8.0.20...

Saw the new update but after hearing it didn't work for some I skipped installing 3.8.1 and used 3.8.0.20 this morning. About 20 miles into the ride I stopped and checked the link on my iphone and it was working realtime to my current position. Got back on the bike and completed the ride of 38.2 miles then check it again. Info was complete! Would like to hear more from others about their experiences with 3.8.1. For now I'll stick with 3.8.0.20.

    Nice!!

I still haven't been able to get out (work from home for a server company - it's been really hectic all weekend) :(

Just to add the possibilities for problems, I've just had to update my phone to iOS 10 beta2 (for work, see comment above). BUT having said that, everything else in GCM seems to work (so far) under beta2 - so that's Good News! Yay!! :D
Now, I really must try and get to play with LT, as it is at least connecting now (under beta2) [Was previously running iOS 9.2.2 when had recent LT issues].

So glad it's working for you now! If you have any further issues, pls let us know.

A Good News update for those worrying about the upcoming September release of iOS 10.
In the early hours of this morning, I updated my 6S+ to iOS 10 beta 3.

Just been for a couple of bike rides and LiveTrack worked for both. Not flawlessly though - the actual route tracking worked fine, but the other data streams: heartrate, temperature, cadence, speed, did not display on the Live webpage. There were available on GCM post exercise.
The missing info might be something to do with hubby's computer setup (you know how guys get when a girlie tries to 'help' them 'fix' their toys - I was summarily banished to the kitchen! ;) ).

But anyway, the signs are looking good that the current version of GCM will work with iOS 10. :)

[Please note: These test results are in no way endorsed by Apple or Garmin. iOS 10 beta 3 is currently in Private beta, so I cannot answer questions on it. Sorry]

Yes, hence I can't talk about features of the closed beta. I'm close to getting into trouble just by saying that it works. Just wanted folks to know that there is light at the end of the tunnel. :)

Cool! No questions. Looking forward to 3.0 for the watch. Just bought a Macbook 12" 1.3 8/256. It is sweet, but still primarily a PC desktop user for photography and Amateur radio. I go back and forth and have owned Apple IIe, Macintosh II's. It's all good and good to know iOS 10 will work with GCM, if GCM will work.

  • Got the Livetracking working on 3.8.0, after 3.8.1 update it is not working anymore and the Twitter select account prompt appears again. Hope the new 3.8.2 update brings back this function as it was the main reason for buying the Edge 810.

GC on IOS 9.3.2, Garmin Edge 810 on 5.10.

¿Is there any option to rollback the app to 3.8.0 after the update?.

¿Is there any option to rollback the app to 3.8.0 after the update?.

If you are talking about the iOS GCM App, pretty much the only way you can do this is if you previously saved the GCM v3.8.0 .ipa file AND your phone is jailbroken. You can then load the earlier version of the App back onto your device.
The best option is to not install the App update when it is offered in the App Store.
