LiveTrack Issues

Since the latest Garmin Connect update on iOS, LiveTrack is now just about completely useless.

The beginning of the ride shows up and that's it.

Since this problem, I have:

1) Uninstalled Garmin Connect and re-installed it
2) Unpaired / Paired Edge 1000 to iPhone
3) Factory Reset on Edge 1000

Many people with Edge 1000s have the same problem. See Edge 1000 Forum (https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?354317-LiveTrack-Issues)

All components are on latest software/firmware.

Also, at the end of the ride, the autosync feature no longer works. In fact, stopping the iOS app and/or restarting the Edge 1000 fails to make it sync. I must power down the iPhone, restart it, then restart the Edge 1000 and Garmin Connect and I will get it to sync.

Furthermore, *IF* the iPhone goes through an area where there is no cell service, the iOS app never reconnects to the Garmin servers and the ride dies there...

    LiveTrack failed today but....

Under unusual circumstances Live Track failed today. My wife and I were going out for a ride. She left ahead of me so I could get a sprint in to catch up with her. Five minutes after she left I started LiveTrack and began to chase her down but 100 yards down the road she called me on my phone saying she had a flat and asked I just pick her up in the SUV so I could go back out alone. I returned home ending LiveTrack. After picking her up and restarting my second ride, I started a new LiveTrack segment. When I returned home after my 36 mi ride I checked my email and saw two different LiveTrack emails. I opened the first and saw my abbreviated ride with complete tracking albiet short. I opened the second (36 mile) ride and it showed the start and stop markers but no route tracking. Hmmm. Not sure what to make of this. Possible operator error or Livetrack error. I'll report results of my Monday ride.

    Two rides, one Livetrack failure.....

Went out for a ride and had to return home immediately. I ended the LiveTrack session manually. I then started a new LiveTrack session and started out on a 36 mile ride. When I returned home my email showed the two LiveTrack sessions. The first was complete with route info. The second session show the start and stop markers but no route info. The header with distance, time, ect info was all zeros. Not sure what happened but it wasn't the classic LiveTrack error I was seeing prior to the last update. Maybe user error but don't see how. I'll report on my Monday ride.
  • Well, first LiveTrack session in a long time which was flawless. 122 Km ride with sections where there was NO cell service.
Never got a "Network Connection Error" or "Device Connection Error" on the iPhone. LT recorded the entire trip with no issues.

    Very happy wife today...

Whist v3.8 fixed the LT issues, they released 3.8.1 overnight. Has anyone tried it??

Hope they didn't break it again!!! ;)

Only just noticed this update (thanks to your post!).
In short, I don't know. Just loaded it and going out for a run in about 15 mins, so we shall see....

In other news, the constant bugs in Connect and the latest non-updating of exercise info (specifically calorie edits on the website version), have finally pushed me to another company.

Just ordered a Suunto Spartan Ultra Stealth Titanium HR

    WELL DONE GARMIN!!!
    Another permanently lost customer.

I think I'll wait to hear your results with 3.8.1 before I load it.
    Thx

    Delayed posts?

Why are my posts so delayed? Yesterday and today my posts are not showing up for hours.
  • Because they're going to moderation, you just need to be patient.

    Hi clicari.
    Just a follow-up.
I could not even get LiveTrack to work at all today.
As there has been some 'yoof-unpleasantness' where I normally go running, I decided to stay at home and suffer the heat indoors on the static bike and treadmill.
Sorry I don't have better news for you.
    Susi xx

(I know I spit vitriol sometimes about the continual issues with the Garmin software, but the reasons are due to real disappointment:- Mentioned elsewhere, a Garmin GPS saved my life years ago, and so when I needed a fitness tracker, Garmin was my first and only choice. Only buy the best, right?!
It really breaks my heart to watch such a fantastically innovative company slip into the "Netgear Realm" of amazing products that are let down by atrocious firmware/software.)

    Ugh

So sorry to hear this. I thought we were getting this thing straightened out.
