LiveTrack Issues

Since the latest Garmin Connect update on iOS, LiveTrack is now just about completely useless.

The beginning of the ride shows up and that's it.

Since this problem, I have:

1) Uninstalled Garmin Connect and re-installed it
2) Unpaired / Paired Edge 1000 to iPhone
3) Factory Reset on Edge 1000

Many people with Edge 1000s have the same problem. See Edge 1000 Forum (https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?354317-LiveTrack-Issues)

All components are on latest software/firmware.

Also, at the end of the ride, the autosync feature no longer works. In fact, stopping the iOS app and/or restarting the Edge 1000 fails to make it sync. I must power down the iPhone, restart it, then restart the Edge 1000 and Garmin Connect and I will get it to sync.

Furthermore, *IF* the iPhone goes through an area where there is no cell service, the iOS app never reconnects to the Garmin servers and the ride dies there...

Ideas / Comments ?
  • At least you got the Engineers are working on it...

I was totally blown off by the person telling me how to use LiveTrack. I tried to explain that it was working and it dies at about 5 miles on each ride. Doesn't matter the route, it's pretty much just after the 5 mile mark. One of Garmin's big selling points and it doesn't even work. I could see it not working when I'm in the woods mountain biking, but in the middle of the streets wide open and good cell coverage, I hope they get this fixed soon.

It's now four working days after I received an auto-reply email from Garmin Support promising to contact me within three working days.

I don't know why I felt positive that they might be true to their word. Should have known better.
Even a terse, "We're working on it, so bog-off and let us do our job." Would have been something.

They are on holiday and living thanks to old good job.
Keep going this way and prepare to go down without brakes...
  • hope for version 3.8

looking into the update frequency, there are updates for connect mobile ios about once a month.. version 3.8 would be due around 15th of july... i pray for a fix with next release.
  • Garmin, you have a problem

Just adding myself to the growing list of people who are frustrated that Live Track isn't tracking anything live. Same issues as multiple other posters:
    Forerunner 25 with latest updates
iphone 5 with software version 9.3.2
Garmin Connect Mobile version 3.7 (although this problem started with version update in middle of June)

Live Track starts and sends an email but the email shows the map and states that there is no signal and it is trying to reconnect. This remains the case regardless of how long my run is. Very shortly after ending my run on my watch (and even before ending the live track session on the app) all data from the run is finally shown on the emailed map.

Sent a comment to Garmin via in the in-app comment option but haven't heard anything back. Glad to see in this thread that Garmin is aware of the issue. I purchased the Forerunner 25 (rather than the 15) strictly for the option of live tracking. I still have a really old Forerunner 305 and a 205 that does just as much as my 25 does now!

Also adding myself to those who do not have a FB or Twitter account and don't see the point in the constant reminder that a Twitter account isn't connected to the GCM app. Garmin, are you there Garmin? Come in.

Exact same issues, wife can see me to the end of the road then it drops out via livetrack email link. Used to work flawlessly and why I bought the edge 1000 - sort this crap out Garmin or you'll become a redundant manufacturer when someone inevitably comes along and provides a better service

Guess I'm not finding an answer

I have a 920 and iPhone 6 running ios 9.3.2 and have been having the same problem lately. Livetrack worked great for a while, and then started doing the same thing described by mattarnold. I have friends with iPhone 4's and livetrack still seems to be working for them. I hope Garmin's cricket-like response to this issue because they are so deeply entrenched in trying to resolve it. :(
  • fixed live track for myself

i found a solution for me.
i rolled back to mobile connect version 3.6 and the first run today worked well with livetrack.
i used "connect 3.6.ipa" from early june, found on my timemachine backup.
    .
so definitly something wrong with version 3.7
