Play audio alerts while running!?

In the manual for the FR 630 it say´s that you can set the GC Mobile app to play motivational status messages on your smartphone during a run... so far so good.

From the pdf: "...audible warnings include lap number and lap time, pace or speed and heart rate data. During an audible warning Garmin Connect Mobile app closes the primary audio from your smartphone to play the message. Volume levels can be adjusted in Garmin Connect Mobile app"

Non of this is working in my app for iphone! The only option I have is "lap number and lap time". Moreover, the volume does´nt even go back to what it was before the audio message. It stay´s muted to minimum the rest of your run
  • Luck you! I upgraded from the 210 to the 630 because I thought it would have Voice Alerts (having enjoyed them on 'Map My Run) - still not working. Garmin used to be very reliable but this 630 is very buggy. Presumable with Apple, FitBit et al chasing them they are having to release increasingly complex hard and software more and more quickly.

Unfortunately none of the other options...

On my walk yesterday (without LiveTrack going) I got the pace alerts, no problems (lap and HR turned off)

On my run this morning (WITH LiveTrack going) I got lap alerts, HR alerts and pace alerts -- AND (added bonus) my audio went back to regular volume after each one.

Yes, lap number and pace works just fine. Even without that reduced volume reduction (muted). Unfortunately none of the other options... audio alerts like speed/heart rate/frequenz and volume settings).
  • GCM doesn't play well with others...

Word to the wise -- do not use GCM audio prompts if you are using any other app that also uses audio prompts!

So in an earlier post I mentioned I use an app called Zombies Run! which gives audio alerts at various times. When I have music playing it lowers the voolume so I can hear the audio, then when audio prompt done, the music comes back up to regular volume.

Now GCM does the same thing -- yea!

    but...

This morning the GCM audio alert finished *while* the Zombies Run! app was still talking...and when GCM was done, it upped the volume so I could not hear the Zombies Run audio anymore!

Garmin - please, copy & paste!?

There´s been a couple of GC releases since my first post (Nov 2015). Every single time I hope this issue will be fixed - but no. Does´nt matter what settings you choose for your alerts - it keeps falling back to default frequency (when you want to be notified) 3 minutes. And forget about desiding your own volume...

This kind of settings and bug free solutions can be found in every other running apps out there, so whats the deal. "Copy & paste"!
  • A software release has helped but no one in the support team knows what is going on.
