Play audio alerts while running!?

In the manual for the FR 630 it say´s that you can set the GC Mobile app to play motivational status messages on your smartphone during a run... so far so good.

From the pdf: "...audible warnings include lap number and lap time, pace or speed and heart rate data. During an audible warning Garmin Connect Mobile app closes the primary audio from your smartphone to play the message. Volume levels can be adjusted in Garmin Connect Mobile app"

Non of this is working in my app for iphone! The only option I have is "lap number and lap time". Moreover, the volume does´nt even go back to what it was before the audio message. It stay´s muted to minimum the rest of your run
  • Music low after audible feedback

Yes, same with me, after a lap is announced, the music volume stays low, this is not good.

No hint about the other information that can be set.

also for me with Android. No audio at all - ForeRunner 235

also for me with Android. No audio at all - ForeRunner 235
  • Same here, kind of

I've noticed that AFTER GCM has lowered my music volume, if I get any other notification (txt, FaceBook, etc -- I have notifications set to on during my runs) then the volume DOES go back to pre-GCM announcement level. I often use the Zombies Run! app so every time I get an audio alert from that app, the volume bumps back up.

    This is good, except...

...if the GCM volume *down* adjust happens (let's say it takes my music from a 6/10 down to a 4/10) and I then turn it up (let's say, back to a 6/10), then another alert comes through and suddenly my volume is up at 8/10! So I have to turn it down to 6/10, then after the next mile lap, GCM puts it back at 4/10.

    Grrrrr!

In Zombie Run! I can set the audio alerts to be a certain percentage, e.g. I have them set to 120% of 'normal' -- which REALLY means that if my music volume is at 6/10, then the Zombies Run! app alert talks to me AT 6/10, while my music in the background lowers to 4/10... and then when the Zombies Run! app is done talking to me... VOILA! my music comes back in at 6/10 again.

I'm REALLY hoping GCM will allow actual volume settings like the OP mentioned from manual, as well as other audio alerts.

Until the next update, I'm turning those audio alerts back OFF!!! and just looking at my watch at the lap alerts.

    I Lost My Adio Alerts

Today I totaly lost the setting of activate or deactivate the audio alert for my fenix 3 device on the Garmin Connect Mobile App.
  • After newest update I see more options

I now have more options than just the lap alerts. I can also get periodic pace or heart rate alerts. There is also a "audio volume" (button?) to tap which speaks the alert, but no way to adjust it?

I'll give it a go this weekend on my 20-miler and see how the overall volume adjustment thing fares
  • It worked! ...sort of

The lap alerts worked fine -- volume was clear and when the Garmin lap alert was doe my iPhone's volume went back to normal.

However, it did NOT alert me at 10-minute intervals with pace or HR data like I'd asked it to. Maybe if Lap is set to ON then the others are not enabled? I'm doing a run Tuesday morning and will try Lap alert set to off, but the other two still set on, and see what happens.
  • non-lap alerts not working

I turned lap alerts OFF this morning, but left pace alerts on and set to every 10 min. I also left HR alerts on and set to every 7 minutes.

no alerts came through while I did my (started from training calendar) run.

    3 minutes (by default)!?

Recently I discovered that the "sound alerts" finally works (at least some of it).
Already in the user manual you were promised this together with volume control for these sound alerts... but unfortunately it has never worked.

    1.
In settings, sound alerts, you can choose what you want to get noticed about. For example: pace, speed, heart rate... so far everything is good.
You should be able to set the frequency (when you want to be notified). This does´nt work at all... Although I have chosen to be notified every lap the system insist to adjust my choice to 3 minutes (by default)!?

    2.
The volume setting of these alerts/notifications do not work at all!

Update - but the audio alert issues still remains...

:mad:Today, another GC update from Garmin, "bug fixes"...
But the audio alert issues still remains... come on!
  • It works!

On my walk yesterday (without LiveTrack going) I got the pace alerts, no problems (lap and HR turned off)

On my run this morning (WITH LiveTrack going) I got lap alerts, HR alerts and pace alerts -- AND (added bonus) my audio went back to regular volume after each one.

Side note -- GRRRRR -- for pace, I picked "Current Pace/Speed" ... and the audio prompt used the words "Current pace is..." ... but the NUMBER they gave me was actually my AVERAGE pace.

On Sunday I will pick lap pace and see what I get
