Steps not transferring in Apple Health

Is anyone else having trouble with step data syncing over to apple health from Garmin Connect on iPhone 6? I use weight watchers and the only way to get activity points to transfer in to weight watchers is through apple health. I even have Garmin Connect linked to weight watchers but the data does not transfer that way. I have tried turning my phone off and on which has forced the data to sync in the past. But it hasn't worked this time. No data has synced between apple health and connect since 7pm Friday. I'm having to manually enter the data into health right now.
  • I disable the steps in the iphone by going into settings / Confidentiality / Movement & form / and uncheck follow ....

I had in the GC source setup of Health the ability to read data by GC. So I uncheck this to see if it is going to be better !

If you do this, you basically disable Apple Health to work properly. Leave it on, but disable writing to Health, like on the screenshot:

Then go to Apple Health app, click on "Steps" tile, "Share data" and click Edit. Then rearrange Garmin to be on top.

After you open the Garmin app and step counter, it should sync to Health.

  • I setup Apple Health as you described. Let see if Health is working

What is really weird is this morning when I woke up I was following the records of the steps. This was pretty ok in the App but not on the right Timeslot ! it starts a 4 pm for 8 am real steps done

Later, after some more Steps, it starts to write steps at 8pm. Is This a time machine which goes in the other direction ??????

  • Hmm, did you set your correct timezone under https://connect.garmin.com/modern/settings ? Should be GMT+2 now (I presume you're from France based on Orange F).
  • Yes from France, and I'm on GMT+1. Donot know if the summer time shift needs to be considererd... even though the shift is about 9 hours .....
  • And everything else is syncing with the right timestamp....
  • So yesterday evening after several uninstall / reinstall it seems to work this morning ! Don't know why but it work !

So now I'm trying to correct the 5 days of wrong data I have but it seems there is no way to do it for the health data in farming connect .....
  • Cool that you have it working. Regarding correcting or entering previous data I wouldn't even bother on your place, since you have to do it manually.
  • I have today also a problem with the steps update .... The watch is showing 2827 without any running activities but in gc mobile and on the homepage , I'm seeing only 615 steps ! But what is really weird is that looking on the steps graphs I can see the 2827 steps ! Also in Apple health I have the 2827 !

    Really weird this app !!!
  • On iPhone X, iOS 14.3 the fix was to turn off motion & fitness tracking for Health. Health then showed the exact number of steps from Garmin Connect app on every sync. Settings>Privacy>Motion & Fitness>Toggle Health app off

  • Change the priority order on the Health App. See this www.google.com/.../

Once you change the priority the Health app will have the same steps as your Health app.
