Block notifications at night

I have a Vivoactive and the latest Connect Mobile for Android running on a Samsung Note 2 but can't find a way to block notifications at night. Blocking mode on the phone or setting to silent has no effect and setting the sleep time in the App has no effect.

On the Pebble watch you can set a "do not disturb" time directly at the watch. Why do we not have this facility? I do suspect this is a Android issue andossibly phone dependant as I can find any mention of this fault by others.
  • thanks - hadn't realized the manual option to turn DND on/off.

Actually the doco/link highlights: "The device automatically enters do not disturb mode during your normal sleep hours. You can set your normal sleep hours in the user settings on your Garmin ConnectTm account"

I've been getting some buzzes during the night however? And I've setup sleep hours. Wonder if the watch senses/detects restlessness and lets alerts through in this case? (guess I might be able to check at the time manually to see if the watch is in DND mode or not..)

This thread is open for almost two years, and no apparent solution is given. I have my VAHR for about a month, with latest firmware, my normal sleep hours are properly setup and synced. Watchs works very well for all other functions. DND mode during the night sometimes seems to work, and sometimes, the VAHR wakes me up in the middle of the night for incoming emails and the backlight turns ON on my movements.

No wonder my sleeping activity shows poor sleep quality: my watch keeps me awake...
I know I can set DND manually, but I don't see this as an acceptable solution.

I love my watch, but this is serious annoyance, quite unacceptable for an "intelligent watch" with all those other features, not being able to automatically prevent vibrations during the night.

    Does anyone have advices/fixes?
Is Garmin even aware of the problem?

    Thanks

In Garmin Connect I turned off every notification I could find. I don't ever want it to notify me about emails, phone calls, texts, anything. It buzzes to tell me to Move! and Move Bar Cleared. It says GOAL! when I hit steps and intensity minutes. I want nothing else so I set it to not notify on anything else. It has not woke me up since.

It took me a few days to get used to the back light going on when I toss and turn at night but I have managed to not have the light wake me up.

I find it strange that my Android buzzes often during the day with the Bluetooth bug but not at night. I have no idea why. At night my Android phone is about a meter away from my band so I don't get why it doesn't buzz constantly at night.

Go through the Settings on Garmin Connect. Turn off all sorts of notifications. That's what I suggest.
  • In Android, some of the battery/power saving utilities allow you to automatically turn off bluetooth on a schedule. Wouldn't that do the trick?
    Many have free versions.

The problem for me was that while I had the Garmin Connect Mobile Phone App Sleep times set for 10pm to 7am, when I checked on my watch, (Menu > Settings > Do Not Disturb > Sleep Time) they were listed as 10pm to 6am which explains why I was getting calendar notifications waking me up just after 6am.

Changed it to 7:30am and then synced my watch and it had updated to the revised time, so then changed it back to 7am and synced again, and watch times were now updated to 7am.

What version of software is your watch using? I don't see a Menu > Settings > Do Not Disturb > Sleep Time in my VA3 watch. I have Menu > Settings > System > Do Not Disturb which can only be turned On or Off with SW Version 3.50.

In case it matters, I don't like having the VA3 vibrate during notifications so I have also turned that option OFF as I find the vibration annoying even on the LOW setting. Maybe the OFF setting would be useful to anyone that doesn't want to be disturbed while sleeping.

I came here to find out how to disable notifications on my fenix 3 at night. My findings were similar to FrathosCAN, but Do Not Disturb is found under the LIGHT button's menu, not under the main menu. I have software version 8.90
