Workouts uploading issue

Hi there,

I paired my Edge 510 with my Samsung Galaxy S5 with Android Lollypop via Bluetooth.
Everything seems to be fine, but...
In Garmin Connect, I try to upload an existing workout to the Edge but always receiving a message that an error occurred. Not uploading.

Any suggestions?

Thanks and regards

Riccardo
  • It's a stupid answer... It's something wrong, I really don't believe that!

One of the most important feature of the Edge series is exactly the communication between the Edge and the Garmin Connect Mobile application.

I say that especially for the following reason:
In my case, sometimes the first sync is OK but that's all. After that, no other synchronizations are possible... So, it is bidirectional communication between the units. Otherwise how can be possible to sync once (I repeat, sometimes not everytime).

What bother me much is that we are very very few Garmin users who report this issue. What about the others? All things are working well and we are the unlucky ones?

I'm still waiting for the official support to answer...
  • This sounds so bad... The beauty of BT is Bi-directional communication... Don't know what to think.
  • Guys, the problem is the following. The version 3.40 had problems. We all agree with that! :) But now I have the Garmin guys confirmation. :)
    Now we have two choices:
    1. To upgrade to the last beta version (3.43 Beta) version: http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=8867
    2. Downgrade to 3.20

I upgraded and the problem seems to be solved. Now I can done multiple syncs without errors.

If you're not satisfied with the 3.43 version you can rolback to the 3.40. The 3.40 firmware version is contained into the downloaded archive (see the above link).
  • I restarted the watch and phone. then turned on and off the blue tooth on the watch and it worked. Now it all seems fine again. Maybe just the new android app needed to have everything restarted.
  • Try to re-sync the same ride and see if it's still working. In my case, this re-sync never succeeded. The only way to solve the issue was the upgrade that I mentioned in post no. 14.
Now I'm pretty calm knowing that was a firmware bug. :) Annoying but solvable. :)
  • FIXED?!?!

Garmin support contacted me again telling me to set the workout to "Cycling" and try again.

It already was (double checked it) but I tried again and now it works! Really don't know why, but now the Garmin Connect Mobile app sends workouts from the phone to the Edge via Bluetooth flawlessly.

    Confused but happy!

    Regards

    Riccardo
  • Did you tried to re-sync the same workout? It works?

I still trongly recommend the update, even if it's beta version because, as garmin said, I quote, "Improved connection stability with Garmin Connect Mobile to fix sync issues."

Sometimes things don't upload via bluetooth because the bluetooth is or was previously connected to something else, like a car hands free. My phone can only connect to one bluetooth thing at a time.

If i drive somewhere and my phone is connected to the car bluetooth, and then go for a ride some time later, i often have to turn bluetooth off then back on on the phone for it to connect. This fix has worked every time to link my 510 to the phone.
