Workouts uploading issue

Hi there,

I paired my Edge 510 with my Samsung Galaxy S5 with Android Lollypop via Bluetooth.
Everything seems to be fine, but...
In Garmin Connect, I try to upload an existing workout to the Edge but always receiving a message that an error occurred. Not uploading.

Any suggestions?

Thanks and regards

Riccardo
  • Hi Riccardo,

Today I had the same problem like you!

I can not sync the rides stored on my Garmin 510 using Garmin Connect on my phone. Except two times when a test workout was synced immediately after stop it and pushing the Save button none of the other uploads had succeeded.

I tried also to delete all rides. Nothing happen. I also tried a factory reset and a reinstallation of the Garmin Connect application, same bad news.
Having in mind that two uploads was done I suspect a connection problem with the Garmin Connect website. I presume that when a sync is initiated the Garmin Connect application try to send the workout to the website. If it's unable to upload it the failure notice is shown. Am I correct? Or it is a problem only between Garmin 510 and phone application?

For the moment, the only way is to use the USB connection to your PC.
  • Hi,

Yes, it's a weird behaviour. The workout I created with the online editor is correctly showing into the Garmin Connect Mobile app, but when I try to push it into the 510 via Bluetooth, it seems that it doesn't even try to send it, the error message appears instantaneously. Don't know what's going on...
  • Yes, it's a strange behavior. With one week ago I had no such problems. I will write to Garmin to see what they say. I'll keep you in touch if I will receive an answer.
  • And again. Also recorded rides fail to upload via Bluetooth. Very annoying.
  • I tried also to install the Garmin Connect application on another phone and on my tablet. In both cases, the result is the same error, same behavior.
So I presume that the problem is the Garmin Connect application or the Garmin server where the application try to upload the data.

It seems like Garmin can not get through a month without problems.

If it is not one thing it is another.

Now the problem to get the vivofit to upload step data.
I have never had problems uploading data via the android app or off my laptop with Garmin Express.

But last night no go with both.

Then GCMSupport comes out with a work around.

    I quote them:

"There is a known issue that exists for some customers using the vivofit. The vivofit will successfully sync to the Garmin Mobile application but no new step information appears. If you experience this please try the following as a temporary work around:

Press and hold the function key on the vivofit for about 12 seconds or until the screen on the watch goes blank. Now attempt to sync the watch to the device. This should now allow steps to successfully sync. A permanent fix will likely be included in a software update sometime in the near future.

We do apologize for any issues this may have caused you and appreciate your patience. "

It is every month some type of problems.

Come on Garmin you guys can do better than this!!!!!!!

Maybe it is time to get some real programs on board..........
  • Update: activities upload now working, workout upload doesn't.
  • Yes, the initial upload (after you pushing the Save button) is working. I done several test ride and I seen that only one upload can be done.
I tried also to upload again the same ride and still not working.
  • Ok, got the answer from the official support. Bi-directional wireless communication between the Edge and the phone is gone in the latest app update:

"This was a planned feature in a pre-production version of Garmin Connect Mobile, that did not make it to the full version. It is still not possible to upload information from Garmin Connect Mobile to the Edge."

    Too bad... :-(
