Please include a change description in Google Play Store when you release a new version of Garmin Connect Mobile!
Please add a “total weight lost” feature. I would like to track how much I have lost since setting my goal. Even how much weight to go to get to my goal. Right now it isn’t easy to read how much I’ve lost…
Not improvement exactly in the Garmin Connect Mobile app itself but how about adding a sticky post on this Garmin Forum area with the latest version of the app in title and bullet point listing what has…
Yes, weeks start on Monday in this case. Also described in the document Changing Account Preferences in Garmin Connect
Please note that the First Day of the Week setting only applies to your calendar and related features. This setting will not change the calculation of Intensity Minutes, Weekly Steps Challenge start dates, or how data is displayed in reports; this data will display a start day of Monday.
I've personally used both and have to say I find Fitbit to be awful. The app is terrible, sync issues, pairing issues. For years they had issues with watches only being compatible with specific big name brands of phones. I've had issues with multiple Fitbit devices over the years. And Never had issues with any of my Garmin devices.
I bought my kid an inspire 2 (because it was cheap and she has a tendency to lose things) and was very disappointed that we can't decide what to display on the watch face and what to hide. So she has to scroll through 5 screens to get to the couple screens she actually cares about. This is basic stuff, even for a lower tier watch. But Fitbit disables customization on cheaper watches to 'encourage' you to buy the more expensive models. Feels sleezy to me, to deliberately make the user experience worse.
I find Garmin has better interface, data tracking, community challenges, and a better product at a similar price point with more features.
Also, Garmin has weekly challenges against other users, friends, etc. that you can join. How would that work when users weeks start on different days? Everyone needs to be on the same calendar for community challenges to be fair.
Fitbit has worked great for me and my wife. The one problem I had with a device resulted in an immediate replacement. No questions asked.
I see no reason to call Fitbit sleazy, based on my experience. The device always synced for me and I have an older LG phone. I was able to decide what I wanted on the face of the device. The weekly Fitbit progress reports are great, yet I see nothing similar for Garmin.
I switched to Garmin, when family members bought it for Father's Day, so want to give it a fair shake.
That said, I don't participate in challenges and don't see why I have to be forced down a path I don't want nor need in terms of selecting parameters for monitoring my progress. Additionally, more needs to be done for easier tracking of weekly progress on all parameters.
But alas, it seems we will probably have to agree to disagree.
Everyone's experience is different I suppose. What works for me might not for you, and vice versa. I'm sure both platforms have their merits!
I'm terms of sleezy, I guess what I mean is that I find their sales tactics sleezy. My understanding is that the mid range and higher end watches you can customize display fields. That's likely why yours can do it, your have a better model. But On the low end watches you cannot.
Ie. Inspire 2
There is no reason for this. There is no hardware or software limitation that keeps them from NOT displaying say 'hydration' on the watch face. Or letting the user decide not to display it. They are deliberately not giving the user that option, deliberately making the user experience worse, to encourage people to buy the more expensive watches if they want to be able to customize display fields.
If you buy a Garmin vivofit 4, their low end device, you can customize what fields you want to see. You get the same user experience limited only by the hardware. (ie. GPS, sensors, and display capabilities)
To see weekly reports.
In terms of compatibility I'm talking a few years back. They fixed it now, but years back my Fitbit worked with my Motorola phone, then the watch updated one day, and then it didn't work. Same thing with my wife's watch and phone. And they used to list only certain Android phones as compatible. Not anymore, this was awhile back. Guess Im still bitter about having two expensive Fitbit watches in the family that suddenly were garbage. That's when I switched to Garmin and never looked back.
All the best. The important thing is being active, however you track or encourage it!
I would love to have an activity named mountain bike.
You did not tell which watch you own, but practically all recent watches have a mountain bike activity included. It is called MTB. If you have a model without it, then of course you can copy the basic Cycling activity and rename it.
Please allow the user to select a separate default running shoe for trail runs. For people who run both road and trails it’s a royal pain to constantly change gear for the run type. There is already a separate gear default for hikes so it is doable. Just please do it.
I've been waiting for this activity to be added for ages. I'm suprised with all the other military things they've added over the years that rucking never came to mind.
