CHALLENGES!!! I know I can't be the only one who would like to have a more robust challenge system. At the very least make it so any activity you record can also be issued as a challenge. I get really tired of step and distance challenges. Please spice this up. I'd have a much better chance at recruiting new garmin users if you had a better system in place.

Hi I have a Garmin vivoactive and after last update all of notifications of my phone are not showing on my watch only incoming phone calls showing could you tell my if its only me or other people have same problem.

  • 1) more challenges.  I can only do a weekly 40k step challenge

    2) an more robust weather api for watches.  Give us the option to configure a weather provider from the mobile app and then allow for watchface developers to pull cached weather info from the Connect App to get the weather rather than each developer having to build up their own weather connection.

I have free weather API keys for like 5 different services and just put them into whatever mobile/watch/desktop app that needs an API key.  It makes more sense to just have it entered in one spot.

  • 1) more challenges.  I can only do a weekly 40k step challenge

Join a group or create one - plenty of challenges are available in groups (steps, run, swim, bike, callories,... ). Or create challenges with your connections - plenty of possibilities too.

  • Oddly, I have yet to be ABLE to create a group, or rather, when I do, and invite friends, they never receive the invites. I've sat down in front of a computer with them and gone through the entire process - group invites go to a black hole.

  • Hm, odd indeed. I had no problems whatsever. What is the name of your group? I can try to look it up and join.

The ability to sync with cronometer.

The ability to manually add incoming calories instead of exclusively MFP.

The ability to export data to CSV.

  • The ability to sync with cronometer.

Unfortunately, this is a question of financement. Basically Garmin offers an API that any 3rd party can use for transmitting the data to them, but it is a subject of license fees. As for now, it looks like only MFP acquired the rights to use the full access to the API. So unless Cronometer makes an offer acceptable by Garmin, I am afraid it won't happen easily, since Garmin already has a usable option in the form of MFP (although many would prefere Cronometer), so they have no urgency to give it up for free.

The ability to export data to CSV.

You did not specify what exactly you want to export in CSV format, but for example you can export any activity in a CSV file (or other file formats as well).

  • I would really like it if Garmin created a real AI Coach

    • Be able to set more flexible targets.  Any race length (within reason) up to and including ultras.  Any reasonable target time or completion.  Any number of weeks before the event.  (Yes, a warning that the combination may not be achievable would not be a bad thing if you want to prepare for a 50K in two weeks and you've never run more than 10 miles in a week.)
    • Be able to add intermediate events into the plan.  For example, if you're training for a half marathon, you're probably not ignoring all other races during the next four months.  Be able to add in that community 5K so that the training plan takes into account a hard 5K race on a specific date.
    • Modify the existing plan based on the results of your other training.  This includes taking into account your HR, your speed, etc.
    • Incorporated within the Connect app.
    • And have all this built on top of the existing capabilities.

I, for one, would be willing to pay extra for this.  Maybe a subscription?  $5/month while training, and not be charged when not in a training plan?  (I doubt that most people in Minnesota do serious training during January, and for me the summers of Florida are killers.)  The charge shouldn't be too high; just enough to justify Garmin putting the resources into the new capability.

Running seems the simplest to implement.  However, once they've got it going for running, they should add cycling, swimming, and triathlons just based on the focus of their current wearables. After that, the various cross training items, such as weight training, yoga, etc.
