training status not updating in Garmin Connect

My training status has not been updated for the last 7 days even though i have done 3 rides during that time. on my Edge 530 it is clearly showing an different training status then what the Garmin Connect app is showing.
i am using a forerunner 965 on the side but i'm not recording my rides with it.
i have synced multipel times an made sure the devices are up to date. Nothing seems to work.
What can i do to fix this?

  • You need a recent VO₂max value for the update of the Training Status. On a bike you get it only with a power meter, so if you have none, you will have to get a fresh VO₂max value from a qualifying run. See more details at Why Is My Training Status Not Updating on My Garmin Device? | Garmin Customer Support

  • I'm using both a power meter and haert rate monitor. And the same set up has worked as expected until a week ago.

Also the training status is updating on my edge 530 but for some reason that does not get transferred to connect when syncing

  • All devices should show the same training status. Do you make sure you sync the Edge 530 before each ride so it can download the current data? Do you see that it is updating the training load on the Edge before each ride?

  • I think there might be a broader garmin issue. My training status hasn’t updated in about the same period of time. I run 4+ times a week and get VO2 max updates. I’ve yet to find an answer just people suggesting I’m not meeting the requirements when  nothing in my training habits have changed. @garmin what’s going on? I’d like real answers.

  • Could you post a screenshot of the page https://connect.garmin.com/modern/report/-1/running/last_four_weeks ? It could reveal some hints.

  • I see two problems:

    • There is Training Load data for the last 6 days only. Did you reset the watch, or changes the Primary Wearable Device recently? Or what else did you change the 6 days ago?
    • There is no HRV status - do you wear the watch during sleep?

The device needs approximately two weeks of training history that include activities with running or cycling VO2 max (or the HRV status, on some models), to determine your training status. So if you wait another week, and continue having the training load data, you will very likely get the status too.

  • No changes with my training. I wear a garmin 245 all the time. I don’t recall if there was a software update, but I’ve made no changes on my end. This other chart in connect shows the training exists.

  • As far as I see, Garmin released a new firmware version for FR245 12 days ago, so that's the most probable reason - possibly the watch was not updated cleanly for some reason, and the Training Load data was reset, and started anew. I am afraid you cannot do much more than waiting around a week, and then the status should reappear.

  • Thanks for looking into this. This sounds plausible. I’ll wait and see if it picks up in a week or so.
