Having to add and register my Fenix over and over again.

Syncing with my Edge 1050 is also not super reliable, but at least it stays connected and registered.

Every few days it's the same. At least I get a fresh welcome every time.

This is with a Fenix 5 and Pixel 7a, but I don't think it's related to that, since Garmin completely forgets my watch.

First one was on June 24th.

I think it is. If you search the forum, there are a number of posts about the same problem, and practically always it concerns Pixel phones. Earlier, it was also reported by Samsung s2* owners, but lately I see less cases involving Samsung. At Samsung, the disconnections were very often caused by the interference with WiFi (using the same frequencies as BT). Not sure about Pixel, but there may be a solution posted in one of the older threads.

Anyway, it is worth of testing whether a temporary disabling of the WiFi on the phone helps (you will need fast Mobile Data, though). Another possibility is switching the WiFi on the phone from 2 GHz to 5 GHz (if both your phone and the WiFi access point support it).

You can see some more details about the wifi interference for example in the following thread, though as I wrote, I am not certain it applies in your case too. May be worth of testing anyway: Garmin connect loading super slow - Garmin Connect Mobile Android - Mobile Apps & Web - Garmin Forums

If not, there are also a number of tips, and some of them specifically for Pixel owners in the Sync / Connection Troubleshooting Guide.

  • Switching Bluetooth temporarily off does sometimes work, but then leads to me needing to register the watch again.
There are definitely different ways this is going wrong.
    - Connect offers to reconnect, and then it works.
    - Connect says I have to repair a Fenix, then repairing also registers again
    - some other ways. I will make some notes and screenshots.

I'll try the Wifi band, that would be an easy fix.
And search if there was any change on the Pixel 7a that other people might have notice.

    Thanks!

Not really necessary. I know exactly what you mean, and as I wrote, it is a problem reported by many Pixel owners here on the forum. I think I saw some people resolving it in some way, in some of the older threads, but do not remember how exactly.
