Removing default My Device tab?

If you don't upload device data, the default "My Device" tab only shows a picture and a suggestion to turn on device upload. You can add a second "My Device" tab that does work, but it takes up one tab slot which I would like to use for something else.

Anyone know a way to delete the default My Device tab (bottom left)?

It is very useful! Livetrack, courses, workouts, phone notifications, calendar.. I don't mind having that on their servers (temporarily), just not every step I make, every breath I take..

There is no other vendor that comes even close to Garmin when it comes to being independent with your own data.

  • It could be perhaps simpler deleting the data that you do not wish to upload to the servers, directly from the watch, before syncing, to avoid having to mess with the settings all the time.

Actually I only have to change settings once, this here was a one-time action to get rid of that "nag-screen" telling me to enable uploads.

Garmins privacy policy is pretty brilliant, you can selectively inhibit uploading data from your devices, while still allowing data processing in general. So all the livetrack, courses etc options can be used as normal without any device data uploading to the cloud.

It does introduce extra hassle to avoid data loss,  using two devices for all activities that you want to keep is necessary, and you can lose some days of sleep, HRV, steps, all-day HR data, depending on how often you copy data to your own storage.
