Suggestions for adjustments to the new Garmin connect mobile interface ("At a glance", 8 Stats cards).

Dear representatives, Garmin.

I guess you have already received feedback from users. This is a normal process when there is a radical change of software.
However, some improvements need to be made in the near future. We should take into account that the transition period should be more flexible in terms of getting used to new solutions. They should be introduced gradually, then there will be less negativity and more constructive and positive proposals.

First suggestion, please include on the Home page "At a glance" the possibility to add more Stats cards, now limited to 8. The minimum should be 12-14, and it is better to bring it up to 20.

    1. I was wondering if there is a way to rearrange the stats card to meet ones needs
  • I would like to see Heart Rate added as a selection for the "In Focus". I know it is included in the "At a Glance" But I would prefer the lager more detailed box that the In Focus would display.

  • I can't even add stats to At A Glance, only the extended option. The FAQ also says cards can be rearranged, but mine don't allow for that. If they're going to introduce a radical change at the very minimum have it operate as intended. I can remove cards, but not add or move anything. I could have a completely empty Glance with no way to add a stat.

Forced and broken downgrade being marketed as an update with no option to revert when these function-shattering problems are found.

Oh hey, also make sure you have an internet connection or the screen will just flicker if you try to edit the home page. You may get this even if the home page doesn't show a problem, but the edit home menu does. Good times with broken software.

  • I can't even add stats to At A Glance, only the extended option

You add to the extended option, then touch and drag up to 8 cards you want to the main section. If you touch and hold the card for a second, it will then allow you to drag it around in the order you prefer. If you're having difficulty on the app, you can do the same thing using the web interface.

  • Thanks. You're far more helpful than the official FAQ linked in the announcement post. I tried pressing the two lines in the upper right of each card that intuitively would indicate an ability to move the card, but that seems to do nothing. Now to figure out how to move At A Glance up above activity and In Focus. Or turn off Today's Activity. I know how far i ran, i was there when i did it and there's no need to force it at the top every time i open the app. Once is enough at best.

  • Now to figure out how to move At A Glance up above activity and In Focus. Or turn off Today's Activity.

You can toggle off In Focus or limit it to just 1 item.

  • I saw that, but the At A Glance should optionally be the first thing shown. It's even titled "At A Glance" and provides a quick snapshot of the activities, and having to scroll to get to it defeats the purpose. I also would like In Focus to be available because it has more detailed information that i might want to see, just not the first thing i see because if i'm ready for details i'm okay with scrolling to get to them. I don't see what the big deal is in making their locations customizable when nearly everything else is. Or at least ordered in a way that makes sense with At A Glance first.

Anyway, i do have In Focus off for now, but there's no way to get rid of or move Today's Activity. There is no reason to show that first thing every time with no significant changes.

  • Maybe it's not as bad as it seems at first glance?
All the statistics are there. Yes, the appearance has changed. Some things have become less comfortable, rather unfamiliar.
As they say, "The morning is wiser in the evening."
    It's a matter of habit.
It was Garmin's prerogative to rearrange the sections on the home page. The first to go on top was always activities and classes, because Garmin is first and foremost a watch for sports.

I wonder what changes will be taken into account by Garmin for finalisation? Will it work if you say loudly that I will sell all your watches and never buy them again if you don't fix this error? Or do you have to patiently point out the bugs, write suggestions and wait.
Rather you need to have someone you know at Garmin and call there, like listen Kelvin, when I play golf with my Senate friends, there's an erroneous scoring going on, make it right before the next match play. LOL.

  • All the statistics are there.

    nope

    for finalisation

That's not a beta any more it's the public release, it should be final.

  • I guess my issue with that approach is that many of the people who were on the beta test voiced their concerns with the interface and it appears that Garmin went ahead with the release without making many (if any?) changes. It's possible that they're even less likely to change things now they're committed to the new design.
