GPS signal vivosmart 5 cannot be found.

Vivosmart 5, the watch can't ever find gps signal when going for run/walk. I'm standing outside, garmin connect open on my phone and all synced up, green light on the sync circle. And watch is just searching and searching constantly. Never connects

  • Vivosmart 5 does not have its own GPS. It is using the Connected GPS of the smartphone. For that, the GPS on the phone must be enabled, and the GC app has to have granted all permissions (especially the Location Services).

  • This isn't helpful. I am having the same problem as OP, I have done all the things you have just listed (GPS is enabled and GC has all granted permissions) and the issue is still happening. No matter how long I sit there waiting for it to connect it never does. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app and re-syncing more times than I can count, but nothing seems to work. I'm pretty close to just returning the damn thing because at this point this seems like a defect. Do you have any more helpful advice to fix the problem?

  • Of course, but they gave the same response you did: "Make sure your GPS is on" and "Make sure permissions are enabled."

  • Well, in that case either call them again, and ask them to walk you through the troubleshooting by phone, or you can also try posting on the Vivosmart 5 forum - other users of the same model could give you more helpful advices. Personally I am not familiar with your model, just as most other users here, on this forum.

  • I try to start a running activity, the watch fails to acquire GPS signal, despite being outdoors in an open area with a clear view of the sky. I've made sure that my watch firmware is up to date, my Garmin Connect app is synced and running, and my key stage 2 tutors phone's GPS is enabled and connected via Bluetooth.
