Garmin Connect App on Android won't stay open

Hello - I saw this question posted a few years ago, with no solution other than call Garmin, but thought ask try again, since support is closed today. I woke up this morning, and my Garmin Connect app on my Google Pixel will not stay open. Android version is 14.  9 hours ago, there was no problem. Since then, the time updated  automatically to account for DST.I have cleared the cache, stopped the app, restarted my phone, uninstalled the app, restarted the phone....it still won't stay open. No surprise - it also isn' t syncing to my watch. Since I also have a Google Chromebook, there will be no syncing until the problem with the app on my phone is resolved. Any other ideas of how to fix this would be appreciated.

  • Same issue on android (Samsung S23,One Ui 6.0,android 14) also in the Beta program (app version 4.76)

No action taken and no updates made and Connect apps launches and then crashes.

Tried cache clearing, uninstall, reboot, and nothing has worked to stop the crashes

  • Did you try the suggestion of using the web interface to leave the beta program before clearing cache and data from the app?

Do it from the web interface - https://connect.garmin.com/modern/settings/betaPrograms

    • Sign in using the same credentials used on the app.
    • Toggle Join the Beta to off.
    • Select Give Feedback to provide feedback or select No Thanks.
    • For the app clear cache cache and clear data, then log in again.

Although, some are stating that just waiting out the issue and the problem was resolved without leaving the beta program, as the issue was potentially related to a backend Garmin process.

  • Yessss thank you so much ! It worked :)

  • App is crashing as soon as I open it. Cleared cache and reinstalled doesn't help. Samsung s23+

  • Update for me: after reinstalling Connect and updating watch system a few times, Connect is working on my Pixel 8 again this morning. I assume Garmin folks fixed something in the code somewhere. Definitely seemed to be an issue with the Connect mobile home page code, since I was always able to see other pages on Mobile (connections/activities, e.g.) if I opened from notifications that popped up, rather than trying to start Connect directly.  However, now that everything is working again there's a different issue: my Fenix 7S is now not recording steps at all. :(  I've been wearing it several hours and it still shows 0 steps for the day. Anyone else seeing this after getting Connect to work again?

  • Ok. So took the advice to disable Beta on the website. Cleared data and Reinstalled and now it's back online and syncing.

  • Still unable to connect.
    Data erasure
    Reinstall App
    Device wipe
Exit Beta on app and device website
    Restore device to factory
    TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!!!!!

  • That approach worked and Connect App now launches and sycs data.

Many thanks for the info on how to resolve this issue!

  • I have exactly the same problem going on. I have done everything you have tried as well. My phone is also a Google Pixel. So if there is any response to this. It would be appreciated.
