Sync issue with Forrunner 225 + Pixel 6a Android 14

Hi,

My pixel 6a can't see my forrunner 225 anymore. It seems that it started when I got the new android 14 update.

I tried everything in the "how to fix sync issue" thread and still i cannot see the watch within Garmin connect.

When i tried to pair, i don't reach the moment i have to put the watch code. Garmin connect loops again into the "find your watch menu".

I don't know what to do...

Any ideas ?

Thanks

  • Hey, so glad I found this.

I think you are not alone. I've got the Pixel 7 Pro and a Forerunner  935 and everything was groovy until I updated to Android 14! It's so garbage. It keeps disconnecting and I have to go through a full process of removing the Bluetooth connection and reconnecting, even sometimes it doesn't work. The only way to fix it "properly" is to unpair the watch with the Garmin Connect app and redo the setup.

Come on Garmin, stay on top of that, please. What is going on?

  • Hi, in my case, it's more a pairing issue. It started I could not see the watch (in garmin connect) while enabling the pixel bluetooth. I tought I had to done the pairing process again because of the android update. And then, impossible to do it. It always stops just before putting the pin code...

I've gone through all the tricks to try to make it working and nothing... It's very frustrating and sounds like they want you to buy a new watch...

  • Same problem here! Stated a few weeks ago. I found that I can get notifications to work again for a bit but it stops again. I can get it to work for a short period of time by doing the following

From the Garmin connect app -> settings -> Notifications -> app notifications
    • toggle the Notification Access off and from Android's "device & app notifications screen that shows,
    • select Connect and toggle off "Allow notification access" and turn it off
    • Turn it back on and then re-allow the Connect to have notification access
notifications work again for a bit..maybe like an hour...and then stops working again
  • That's so bad.

I regret so much to have upgraded to Android 14.

Someone else on here suggested to downgrade the Garmin Connect app. I can confirm it don't work neither :(

    I tried 4.71, 4.70, 4.69 , nothing. These where way before I upgraded to Android 14.

So the issue is 100% compatibility between Garmin and the new Pixel OS

I feel my 500$ watch is juste a ..."watch" now.

But thx for your quick tips.

    I'll try that today!

  • This issue is driving me nuts! I can recreate the issue on my Pixel 6 running Android 14 with forerunner 245 and 255.

I tested the fr 255 on on a Pixel 5 and it works fine on that phone! I tested it with Android 13 and 14.... and zero issues on that phone.

I wonder if the common thread is the Pixel 6... not the android version.

  • It's weird. I'm currently chatting with the french support. They told me they opened a case but... I still can't connect my forerunner 225 with the pixel 6..

  • My notifications are FINALLY working again. Fix was in the last Garmin connect app and/or the December Android update (I get them earlier than the general public).

If it's still broken for you after the most recent Garmin connect app update, it might start working after you do the android December patch

  • Hey!

Guess what, mine started to work too now since early last week . Hehe. So happy!

  • Still the pairing process is failling. I tried to uninstall everything and restart everything from scratch and Nop...

I guess this is a way to force us to buy more recent product...

  • Same problem with Pixel 8 and 735XT. Unable to pair - the pin code box pops up then vanishes and pairing fails. Would be great if someone from Garmin could read/respond to this as it's clearly a bug that needs fixing.
