Always need to re-pair.

I just got my first Garmin watch, the venu 2 plus. Loving it but I find I need to enter a pairing code all the time. After the watch charges, when either the phone or watch restart etc. It also doesn't reconnect very well after going out of bluetooth range. Sometimes it is a bit of a hassle to get it going again. Is this the norm for Garmin watches? I am using a pixel 7 pro. Thanks.

  • Sometimes it helps to go into your phone's Bluetooth settings, "Forget" the Venu device, and pair as if it were new. I had that problem once and this solved it.

  • It happened again today after I rebooted because notifications were taking 15 seconds to get to my watch. I couldn't re-pair it and it eventually did set it up as new by forgetting it. It was quite the hassle getting it going again. Did it ever happen to you again? I have to decide soon if I can live with this watch. I thought garmin would be a solid brand to get behind and reviews are great, but that is not my experience so far. It is great when it works but I have to fight with it *WAY* to often for it to actually work.I have to re-pair it quite often and I haven't even had it a week. Rebooting fixed the slow notifications but the pain of reconnecting, setting up as new and needing reboots for notifications to work will be a deal breaker. Hoping someone can tell me I'm doing something wrong or if this is just the garmin experience.

    Thanks for your replies!

  • That hasn't been my experience. I've seen the pairing problem maybe three or four times in two years. If I see it, it's usually because I changed phones. You can try calling Garmin Support, they've been pretty good when I've called them.

  • Ok well, the watch is reset, and back in its box to return today. I loved this watch while it worked but either there is something wrong with it, or me. Since I can't find any locally, I won't be trying another one, I just have to strike garmin off my short list, which is dissapointing because it was the front runner. I've had many android and apple watches and none have ever had any issues with connection so maybe garmin just isn't for me. So after 6 frustrating days with the venu I am back on my galaxy watch for now. I'm not gonna bash garmin or the venu, just didn't work out for me. Thanks for the help!

  • Sorry that didn't work out. Good luck with your next smart watch! Slight smile
