Garmin Fenix 6 Golf Course Failed to download

  1. I have a Fenix 6 which has recently updated to software version 21.00. Since updating it fails to download any golf course
  2. I normally download course via Garmin Connect. The watch finds the course but then fails when tries to download the course
  3. I have tried resetting the watch, reinstalling Garmin Connect and have updated watch via Garmin Express

Any other advice please?

  • I am having the same problem. I chatted with a tech support person who acted like he had not heard of the issue. He said he opened a ticket yesterday. sometimes my watch will appear to load the course but it is not functional as it seems to not know where on the course it is. you can force it to each hole but the GPS location does not update so as a GPS golf watch it is pretty much useless.

  • I have also been chatting to customer support person who suggested the following, but none of which has worked:

Can you try this for me,

How to Clear the Sync Queue in Garmin Connect

Can you make sure your phones operating system is up to date

    • Open the Garmin Connect Mobile application
    • Go to the more (ios) section or the side menu bar on the left (Android) on the app
    • Go down to 'Garmin devices' and select this
    • Click on your device and the 3 dots on the corner then select 'Remove device' and 'yes'
    • Come out of the Garmin connect App and fully close it
    • Go into the settings of the phone/tablet and select 'Bluetooth'
    • Under Bluetooth it will state 'My devices' and 'Devices available'. Under 'My devices' please remove and 'forget' anything listed under this section.
    • Next turn the Bluetooth off on the phone
    • Turn the mobile phone/tablet off and then on again go back to settings and turn the Bluetooth back on.
    • Can you put the device into pairing mode
    • Follow the initial pair process on the Garmin connect app
    • If this doesn’t work try with another phone.

Can you also try syncing with garmin express on the pc if the above does not work

  • I have been following this since I posted in the beginning. I saw someone had deleted their Garmin connect from their phone. So I thought I would try it. It seems to have worked. Doing so makes you re download the courses you will want to play and that seems to have done the trick. I am playing a proper round soon and will update if it works on coursep

  • Fingers crossed ....I think this might actually work...will put to the proper test tomorrow. Thanks everyone for your help and responses

  • My fenix 6 is failing to download golf courses as well. I have had so many problems with this watch and the golf app that I bought my own range finder. It is sad to pay so much money for this watch and have its features not work. GARMIN is REALLY FAILING on this one.

  • I'm facing exact same issue!! I once deleted the app from my phone and reinstalled, reconnected and it worked. Only not to work the next time again. Can't keep doing that everytime we go to a course!!

  • Same issue for me, I only get around it by deleting the app and reinstalling it.

    Very inconvenient!

  • The minimum effort needed might be: sign out from the Garmin Connect app (in settings) and log in again. If the app proposes your credentials, do not use them but select ”create a new account”, there you can use your old credentials (this works for me).

Sometimes the courses need to be deleted, so the safe routine includes deleting the courses from the app.

My current routine before going to play is: delete courses from the app, log out, log in and download the course to be played. Not nice, but works…

  • I am having the same problem.

I have uninstalled Garmin connect and it seemed to work, but only for one course. All other courses fails to download on the watch.

  • Thank you very much. This seems to work for me as well. Question: If you play the same course again, do you need to repeat this process or does it work automatically? If you change the course I am sure you repeat this workaround, correct? Much easier than deleting the app and re-installing etc!!

I also really hope that Garmin is watching and paying attention on how much this is pissing off us golfers who spent pretty penny getting the Garmin Fenix 6 and having to jump through hoops in using it. Common Garmin - reply back to this thread and give us an ETA on when you will fix this annoying issue of ours.
