Vivoactive 4 Notifications Not working on Samsung Z-Flip 3

Hi Everyone!

I recently got a Samsung Z-Flip 3 and ever since my notifications on the Vivoactive 4 have stopped working. I have turned off all phone battery optimisation, given all permissions on both devices and still it shows no notifications on the widget.

I have factory reset the watch and reinstalled Garmin connect multiple times and still no fix. Also cycled Bluetooth and restarted the devises countless times.

Is this a known issue with Samsung or is my watch faulty? I came from a pixel 4 and it was working fine for years with no issue.

Any Help would be awesome! I suspect this is just a samsung issue but I would love to hear if anyone else is experiencing this.

Cheers

  • Hi, I have the same issue with my Venu Plus. I have taken all of the same actions you have and with mixed but inconsistent success. My Venu can go days without a Bluetooth connection and then reconnect without me doing a thing. It is, sadly, without connection far too often. My Fenix 6 Pro appears to do a little better but I still have the connection issues with it. I had a Sony Xperia II previously and had the same issue. Interestingly, the Flip seems to have become worse since upgrading (!?) to Android 12.

I briefly tried a Samsung galaxy watch 4 classic and that worked perfectly. My Ticwatch Pro 3 GPS is also perfectly receiving notifications. It's a real shame that Garmin, my preferred brand by several country miles, is so inconsistent. It's not a deal-breaker for me, but it's an annoying frustration that these awesome pieces of kit can't work in total harmony.

See thread and post - Android pairing issue

This is a more complete repairing, which also involves the Bluetooth settings and data on the phone.

  • Hi There,

I figured it out based on some feedback on other threads. It's a glitch with the Connect App and the Garmin Golf App when they are both given access to notifications. For some reason when they are both given access to notifications there is a conflict of some sort and notifications stop completely.

The solution was to simply remove permissions for Garmin Golf to access notifications and my watch began working as normal again!

Obviously if you don't have garmin golf installed then I'm sorry that won't help you.

    Good Luck!
