Forerunner245 not recording distance or pace

I have a forerunner 245 about 10 months old - it has worked perfectly until this week where on 3 runs now I have started the run and the timer starts but it does not register distance or pace. The distance may then start up sometime into the run - today after about 50 minutes and then records more slowly then actual (I was running with someone else whose watch was functioning so could compare) - so today's 15km only registered as 6km. This has happened three times now.

Some possibilties

Not waiting long enough to acquire a solid GPS signal - I Am Having Trouble Acquiring a GPS Satellite Signal on My Garmin Fitness Device
Expired ephemeris data - See post from Garmin - Maps missing or incorrect and sync with Garmin Express
Old activities remain on the device's \GARMIN\ACTIVITIES folder - Removing Recorded Activities on a Garmin Fitness Device
