Is it possible to calculate training status using data collected from an elliptical?
So I tried walking around my neighborhood this morning and still no status or VO2 max. Do I need an additional sensor?
You only need a heart rate sensor (strap or optical wrist heart rate) for walking.
The hardest requirement for walking VO2 max is the following:
"Heart rate must be elevated to at least 70% of your maximum heart rate for at least 10 minutes continuously"
Did you reach 70% during 10 minutes continuously?

Yes. Looking at it now, it may have worked. I'm going to try it again tomorrow and see if it changes.
I'll report back.
Thank you
OK, so I have consistently met the heart rate requirements. I have been briskly walking 3 miles every other day for 2 weeks now using the walk activity with GPS. I am getting v02max data, and my training load is through the roof. My fitness age has gone from 55 to 59! I'm 50, as a result of the exercise, I'm feeling great, slimming down, etc. So I know it's working, what do I have to do to get a training status?
If it helps I have a fenix 5x. With current firmware.
I think that should be enough for getting a status. What does it say now? "No status"?
At this point I'm assuming it's because I'm walking instead of running.
