'Log Calories in MFP' button opens MyFitnessPal website in a browser and not the App

Yesterday for no apparent reason the 'Log Calories in MFP' button opens MyFitnessPal website in a browser and not the MyFitnessPal App as it has always done previously.

I have made no changes to either account credentials.

Here's what I've tried to resolve it:

  1. I disconnected the two accounts and reconnected -no change.
  2. I uninstalled and reinstalled the MFP app - no change
  3. I uninstalled the reinstalled the Garmin Connect app - no change
  4. I have compared the permissions for both apps on my Wife's phone (we have identical phones) and they are the same.

Any data I enter into the MFP app is synced and reflected in the Garmin Connect app but no matter what I do I can't get the MFP app to launch when I click 'Log Calories in MFP' button.

In addition to this when I am directed to the MFP website to log calories  I'm always taken to the same page which is the shared food diary of a person I've never heard of and not my own. Fortunately for this person her diary is marked as private so I'm denied access.

Has anybody else experienced this and if so do you have a solution please

  • I also have the same issue - "Log Calories" button in GC takes me to MFP website.  My GC app updated 3 days ago; MFP updated 17 hours ago.  Yesterday I logged breakfast and lunch from GC "Log Calories" button.  After dinnertime, this button was taking me to the MFP website (which was after MFP updated):

"This Food Diary is Private - This user maintains a private diary."

Sounds like something broke between both of the latest updates with these apps, since users started experiencing this issue 3 days ago, when these two apps had an update.

I can log calories directly in the MFP app and it will sync calories enteted with GC, just cannot access MFP directly from GC button.

  • Yea I'm currently experiencing this issue and have tried everything to resolve it to no avail.

  • I have exactly the same issue for the past couple of days and no solution Disappointed

  • no solution

The solution was already mentioned in this thread several times: use the MFP app or their website in the meantime before the issue is fixed in the next release of the Garmin Connect Mobile app. And report it to the Customer Support, since nobody untill now mentioned reporting the bug to Garmin, hence it is not clear whether they are aware of it or not.

  • Thank you for repeating the obvious but, that is a workaround and not a solution.

  • Unfortunately there is no other solution. I do not know what other than a workaround, or the advice to ask Garmin's Support to fix it, you expect here. We cannot miraculously fix it for them.

  • ... another workaround is installing the previous version of the Garmin Connect Mobile app, in the time being. You can use an unofficial APK archive such as the apkssl.com or apkmirror.com

  • Because it's incredibly inconvenient to have to switch apps mid stream to enter the data every time these apps update, glitch out and stop communicating correctly. I'm just glad to know that after disconnecting, resetting my passwords that were no longer recognized, reconnecting and finally coming to this forum looking for a solution, it's not a problem with my phone or account and I haven't lost my marbles... it's yet another software glitch.

  • Ich habe das selbe Problem und keine Lösung dafür.

  • Yes!!!!! I absolutly have and I've done as you have, disconnected and reloaded. Its the same, when I "Log Calories via MPF" I'm redirected to the webpage as opposed to remaining on the app.

How can this be resolved please? Thank you.
