Feature request: Sync battery level from device to Garmin Connect and Battery low notification from app

It would be nice to be able to see the current battery level (of in my case a Forerunner 245M device) in the Garmin Connect App and also to have more fine grained user control over when battery low warning(s) is/are issued (e.g. <20%, <15%, <10%, <5%, one or several).

I tend to miss the single short vibration notification of the watch at 10% battery level. It would be very useful to also be able to get a notification (at a user defined level) from the Garmin Connect app. That way the notification is available as a reminder on the phone until it is swiped away.

This is today a common feature for other devices such as wireless headsets, etc. I wonder why this feature has not already been imlemented by Garmin long time ago...?

  • Thanks, a Venu 2 Plus doesn't have the option

Set up the low battery alert on the watch. On most current watches it is in Settings » Power Manager » Battery Saver » Low Battery Alert.
  • Consider charging on the USB port of a computer whenever possible - there is then a huge battery indicator over the whole screen (on most current models at least) that you can see easily even without fiddling with the watch.

Don't remember if the display blanks which means fiddling to get it to come on.

Unfortunately it's such a fundamental oversight, suggesting adding it would serve no purpose, as such suggestion and comments have been made years ago and nothing happened.

  • I see. I am not familiar with Venu 2 - my Instinct 1 and Instinct 2 show the battery level in the following way and permanently while charging:

  • + , thanks for you suggestions - I can't believe that something so fundamental is missing. Even the basic app for the $38 Ufit has battery level in the app. This is the only upmarket app I've seen that doesn't.

The problem with using a computer to charge is that everything else is disabled - battery level and time is all you have.

This isn't desirable - on my clock face when using a normal charger I have the battery level and it is also shown at the top, but the screen doesn't stay on.

Only frequently occurring suggestions adding significant value for the majority of users are usually considered by Garmin for the implementation, so if people do not suggest certain idea, the implementation is unlikely.

  • but the screen doesn't stay on.

You could activate the display mode "Always On" while charging:

  • You could activate the display mode "Always On" while charging:

Txs, but why isn't it the default anyway?

It would mean both turning it on and also turning it off [lots of extra unnecessary watch navigation] and remembering to do so.

I submitted the idea to simply see it any time in the App, like heart rate.

On my watch faces I ask the user directly if they want the screen on all the time, no navigation. It remembers the choice for next time and the charged setting auto ends once charged.

To save the battery, and the display. Instincts are permanently on, since the power consumption of the display is negligible, and it also does not burn in, so no need for turning it off. Check the manual of your watch, perhaps there are ways to keep it on using the the Power Manger (if your model has it) when plugged in, or another similar setting. Or perhaps you can assign a hot-key for enabling/disabling the always-on mode.
