Feature request: Sync battery level from device to Garmin Connect and Battery low notification from app

It would be nice to be able to see the current battery level (of in my case a Forerunner 245M device) in the Garmin Connect App and also to have more fine grained user control over when battery low warning(s) is/are issued (e.g. <20%, <15%, <10%, <5%, one or several).

I tend to miss the single short vibration notification of the watch at 10% battery level. It would be very useful to also be able to get a notification (at a user defined level) from the Garmin Connect app. That way the notification is available as a reminder on the phone until it is swiped away.

This is today a common feature for other devices such as wireless headsets, etc. I wonder why this feature has not already been imlemented by Garmin long time ago...?

  • If you double tap the lower part of the watch face you will see the current battery status. It doesn't seem to be possible to configure how it is displayed so it will just be the battery icon with the level of charge.

  • Hello fellows!

What do you think about ignoring by Garmin Connect App developers our posts about indication of  battery remain in %? Is it good customer's support? People asking about this for  years, but nothing changes.

I am very surprised of this customer care and support team.

     .

Here I suggest a two places where battery % can be shown.

  • Could it be that it is easier to just flick your arm and look at the watch than picking up your phone, starting Garmin Connect and clicking the device to see the battery status? Garmin might see it as an unnecessary function.

For many watches you can just download a watchface that shows the battery percentage, but there are watches that can't do that like the Instinct and many in the vivo series.

Have you sent your request to Garmin?

  • Garmin Instinct watch had no this option. 5 bricks battery indicator a-la Nokia 3310 style. Accuracy +/-20%.

  • Is there a means to see charging progress without having to fiddle with the watch and possibly stop it charging?

Is there an indication on the phone when the watch has finished charging?

During normal operation is there a way to monitor the watch battery level without having to do it on the watch?

    No.

    No.

    No.

  • Well thank you @tmk2, good to know I won't find anything, but how weird is that?

The most important metric to keep an eye on is the watch battery level because if the watch battery goes flat there are no other measurements possible.

And yet no one has thought to add any monitoring for it in the app!!

Suggest it to Garmin, we can't do much for you, here on the forum: Share Ideas | Garmin

Set up the low battery alert on the watch. On most current watches it is in Settings » Power Manager » Battery Saver » Low Battery Alert.

Consider charging on the USB port of a computer whenever possible - there is then a huge battery indicator over the whole screen (on most current models at least) that you can see easily even without fiddling with the watch.
