Pairing issue Android

Until last week I had no problems syncing garmin edge 520 to Connect on smartphone LG4. Now will not work. I have tried everything deleted all BT cache and data restarted phone. Pairing via the Connect app causes Connect to stop and crash. What is going on.

Successfully pairs and syncs via Connect on iPad.

  • Did you get the apk file off one of the mirror servers?  If so, try to launch it with an app called 'APK Installer' (you can get that app from the app store)

  • Well . . . that fix was not permanent.  When I took bike out the next morning, Connect failed to connect to device.  Had to uninstall/reinstall older app.  That made it work and it properly sync'd.  Following morning same thing happened again.  Repeat for this morning.  Back to the drawing board.

  • Well . . . that fix was not permanent.

In that case, it is apparently not a problem of the app version, but rather another problem. Go through the troubleshooting guide, and elimintate one possible reason after the other. Most likely seem to be some phone settings - i.e. battery optimizing setting, data saver settings, lock screen settings, or settings for controling apps in the background, etc. See more details in the guide.

Eventually I managed to install an old version 4.35.1 and it works. I have switched off auto update in playstore!

Latest app is rubbish and owes me quite a few days of fiddling around trying to get it to work! Get your act together Garmin.
