Can I retrieve an activity that hasn't been syned , nor is visible in the activity folder of my Edge 830

Hi all,

Yesterdag I participated at a 200km Gravel ride, but when I was at the finish, I onlhy had 199km. Aiming for the 200km I decided to record as wel the trip to my home as wel, so I stopped the activity and Snoozed / turned off the Garmin witout saving the activity. Normaly if you restart the device, and you press the start button you continu on the old activity, but now this time he started with a new activity.

When I synced later on, I noticed only my sort ride was visible, not the 199km ride ... At home, I checked via the explorer the Garmin Activity folder, but only the fit-file of the short ride was visible.

I am 100% sure that I didn't delete the file on the garmin, just after I stopped the activity, but I van't find it anywhere.

Is ther a way to seek in other files, for corrupt or other files that could be my long Gravel Ride.

Thanks all
Joeri

  • Have a look a the following thread, perhaps it could help:

    Good Luck!

  • ,

Thanks for your advice. I tried it with recuva, but I didn't found my file. However, I did a test with an activity by deleting it at the end, instead of saving it, and I could repair that file with Recuva.

However, my 'big file' of yesterday wasn't found.

    Regards

  • You have the best chance to recover a file immediately before any further writing operation to the storage happen. For that reason it is recommended to turn off the device as soon as possible, after detecting the problem, and then turning it on, only immediately before you are ready with the recovery tools. Any writing to the storage, can irrecoverably destroy any remains of the lost file.

In other words, I am sorry for your lost file, but it looks like it is definitively gone. Try asking one of the other participants with a bike computer or a smartwatch, whether they could offer you their file that you could import to Garmin Connect (a FIT, TCX, or GPX file), to have at least an approximative record of the ride.
