Walk the walk 4 and 5

Hi, I've just counted and I have 160 walks after April 30th but still haven't got my badge for 100 walks. I have a Forerunner 230 and have to record my walks as 'other' and then edit them in the App. They have registered for the various monthly challenges over the last 3 months (complete a 3 mile...etc.) so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Some of my walks I save as 'casual walking' if strolling with family and some I save as 'speed walking' if on my own. As I say, these both seem to count towards other challenges.

Help!!!

Thanks in advance

  • When you go to the page Progress Summary Reports and run an Activity report for the custom date range from 2020/04/30 to today, do you really see more than 100 logged activities there? Are all of the activities longer than 10 minutes?

  • Check with the report Progress Summary and see what the count is: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/progress-summary

Select custom dates. Start date 2020-04-28 and end date todays date.

    Select activity type Walking.

The first line will tell you how many walking activities you got according to Garmin.

You can also check the counts for when you got the other Walk the Walk badges and see what the counter was at when you got them and use that value to calculate when you got 100 walks.

Thanks for the replies, Just checked (didn't know that page was there actually as I mainly use the App) and I actually have 157 walking activities (was hoping I could upload a screenshot). I've also checked and of those only 14 were less than 10 minutes.

Just adding to that, 94 of the 157 were saved as casual walks and 63 as speed walking

  • Are you 100% sure that every single one of those walks have been logged with a Garmin device? Manual and imported activities will not count towards the badges, but they will show up in the progress summary report.

Yes, every activity came from my Forerunner 230. I've never manually added an activity, I always like to see the route I ran, walked or cycled and you don't get that with manual entry so I wouldn't do it. I'm wondering if there is a minimum time elapsed for a walk or maybe they have to be either casual walks or fitness walks

I never use the walk activity subtypes, so do not know, but you can try setting them all to plain Walk, or to the subtype that was accepted by the lower level Walk the Walk badge.

BTW, there was originally bug in the starting date of the Walk the Walk badges, and despite that the starting date is shown as Apr 28th, I believe the Apr 30th worked, in fact. Not sure whether Garmin fixed it in the meantime.

  • Another tip to keep count of your walks etc without using the progress summary report is to use a goal. It is also easy to use when you are testing to edit activities to see if they are included into the count after the edit.

It counts all activities no matter if you add them manually or importing them. Always always log your training with a Garmin device.

Thank you for that trux. I have 101 walks logged now, but 5 are less than 10 minutes, so I guess that's it. Why don't Garmin give that information? It's pretty naff service, are we supposed to guess? Hoping that another 5 walks will sort it then...

I am not certain about the 10 min limit. For many badges there is no such limit. I just know the minimum of 10 minutes is necessary for example for Intensitiy Minutes to be counted, and for some other features, but did not test it with the Walk the Walk challenges.
