Stop calendar permission requests

I've taken delivery of a Vivoactive 4 and installed Garmin Connect on my Android phone (Samsung Galaxy S10).

How, for the love of sanity, do I stop Connect from asking for permission to access my calendar?

I have no interest in the use of the calendar on the watch, so I have removed the calendar widget from the loop on the watch, and I've set the calendar permissions on the phone to "Deny and never ask again", but Connect KEEPS asking me to give it permission.

Please, somebody, tell me how to stop it happening - it's driving me insane.
