Connect app closes down when I attempt to open an activity such as running or cycling.

I have a Garmin than Venu. When I open the connect app, and attempt to open an activity, such as running or cycling, the app closes down. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app. I have tried this with my watch connected and with it disconnected. Nothing seems to work.

    Same problem here. Samsung A40

  • Same here.  Worked fine this morning, started crashing this afternoon.  Using a Samsung Galaxy S10e, tried my old S6, uninstalled and re-installed the app, tried a new account, nothing helps.

Same problem, huawei p9 lite. Reinstall didnt help... It happened few hours ago.

  • I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. Google is currently experiencing a outage with Google Maps. This is resulting in unexpected behavior within Garmin Mobile Applications. Google is aware of the issue and working towards a fix. https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/154855417

  • Same here. Forerunner 945 with a Google pixel 3xl.

    Same problem me too

  • Went for a short run today, now when I try to look at my running activity on my phone by tapping the top card in the app, it crashes. At the end of the run some of the the buttons on my 945 wouldn't work right, and it took me a while to stop the run. I trimmed my activity on my phone to reflect when my run ended. I've done this before w/o any ill effects.

The data synced to the web ok. My gut feeling is that it's related to the map display.

Looking at the other data/cards in the app works fine (ie heart rate, hydration etc.)

    More info:

    • I cleared the cache and data - didn't help
    • restarted the phone and watch and BT - didn't help
    • I also created another new activity but same problem.
    • Accessing earlier activities from a day or two ago also result in a crash
    • I trimmed the activity on the web by a bit more (just in case there was some issue with trimming it on the phone), but no difference, synced the new distance to the phone ok, but crash when I try to open it.
    • Latest version of the app, using regularly with the Garmin 945 and the Galaxy S9 for almost a year.  Watch/phone is also up-to-date.
    • Also did a fresh install of the app on an Android tablet, same behavior as the phone.
    • The crash is caused by an ArrayOutOfBoundsException in the underlying Java code FWIW, the class points at the google maps api :-/

    Anyone else having this problem?
