Cannot join the public "weekly steps challenge" as, according to Garmin Connect, I have to buy a tracker.
On the Garmin Connect app, go to the device settings of the preferred tracker, and make sure the option Activity Tracking at the top is enabled, and the option Preferred Activity Tracker at the bottom…
I'm getting this error too (a year after this thread was started) and found this thread via search. My F6X has activity tracking enabled and is my preferred device in Connect.
Bummed to see this is…
Does the steps counting work?
Do you get the same error, when you try joining the challenge on the web?
"join the weekly steps challenge!" is the challenge I used to participate in.
I have found other posts that suggest I should be able. To. Do it from the web version, but, as the mobile web version in my browser is incredibly clunky, and I have this handy dandy app, I'm hoping to get that working. Will post back with results of the test in 2m.
Well, you only need to do it once, so doing it from the web is not such a hassle, but you can also try foricng the app to close and reopening it, and also clearing its cache, or restarting the phone - just for the case smething got stucked in the memory, or in the cache.
I appreciate your assistance, but using the app shouldn't require workarounds. (as a test, I deleted all data, uninstalled, and reinstalled, but still cannot join the challenge from the app) I was hoping for a simple fix, but one that included having the app work as designed. I downgraded, and all is well, now.
