Garmin connect, not able to add Forerunner 645 to device.

On the watch, I go to the settings-> Phone-> Pair phone menu and it hangs on the message 'Download Garmin Conenct mobile to complete setup'.

On the Garmin connect app, it hangs on the 'Connecting your Forerunner 645 Music' screen with the progress bar stuck at about 10%.     I've read elsewhere I need a pairing code.  Where can I go to find this, and enter this?

The watch had been previously paired with my phone, however the blue tooth connection was not working, so after rebooting both devices, I followed advice to remove the watch as a device and then to re-add it.   Now I am not able to re-add it.

Any suggestions?

I have had the same exact issue for the past two days with my Forerunner 645. I have power cycled updatedm times, updated to Android 10, factory reset watch, uninstall and reinstalled app. Nothing works, getting really frustrated.

Same issue for my 635 music for the past two days. I unpaired the phone, power cycled multiple times, updated Android, uninstalled and reinstalled the Garmin app, factory reset settings on watch, cleared app cache.  Super frustrated.  Every time I try to pair, the app detects the watch, makes about 10% progress and then fails.

I was able to solve the problem by going into my phones bluetooth settings and removing the garmin watch connection.  Once this was done, when I start the pairing process it works.

I too have the same issue for Forerunner 645 Music. Just adding my case to the list so hopefully Garmin start to realize this is a common problem. I tried everything including factory resetting my watch and removing and reinstalling the Garmin Connect App. This was tried after everything else that failed along the way. Very frustrating. I can only download from the watch by plugging into a computer via USB. I think it was the last Connect App update that affected me. Luckily I traveled with my laptop otherwise I would not have even been able to adjust the time to match the time zones.

How did I miss advice above? Go into Bluetooth settings on phone and remove previous pairing, then pairing will complete. I've never done this before but it worked.

  • the problem is simple. you are using a new Connect account. you must first disassociate the FR645 from your old account
