Garmin Pay - Watch Not Connected

I have GCM version 4.23 installed.

When I select Garmin Pay from the menu bar (top left hand 3 horizontal bars) then I press "Get Started" the app reports that the vivoactive 3 Music is Not Connected, however when I select "Garmin Devices" from the same menu the app reports that the  vivoactive 3 Music is Connected and has been syncing without any problems or errors

Could not get my Huawei 3e phone to work in Garmin Pay, which said phone was not connected. It was in fact paired and working well in all other respects. I eventually used my Samsung T4 tablet which worked without any problem.

It seems to be a Huawei compatibility issue.?

  • A few of us had a similar problem after reinstalling Mobile Connect. I suggest deleting the app cache, restarting the watch and the phone and see if that changes anything. If you haven't already done so, uninstall the app and immediately reinstall it.

  • Thanks guys.  Took an uninstall and reinstall of Connect to do it.

"Connected" on all screens other than the GarminPay-specific screen only evaluates whether the phone is bluetooth connected to the watch. On the GarminPay screens, "connected" is evaluating whether the GARMIN NFC (near field communication) connection is established. It is confusing... If this occurs, you can toggle bluetooth on/off on the watch. On bluetooth reconnection, hopefully the NFC will be ready.

  • I confirm: Deleting the Cache of the Garmin connect App, restarting the phone and afterwards the watch (Fenix 5 plus in my case) helped; I could get past the "Watch is not connected" issue.

  • Yes that worked for me also, did as written above.

  • Hi,

does this means the connected phone needs to have NFC to be able to configure vivoactive to use its garmin pay?

No. Bluetooth low energy (BLE) is the only phone hardware requirement.

I had the same problem. Went into Garmin Pay on my app, Vivoactive 3 not connected, although the watch was.
Updated my Garmin app. Seems to have fixed the issue.
