same here ... still no solution ?

  • Googling the problem, 2 answers seem to be the most common.

You're trying to create a new account that already exists or you have a problem with your internet connection.

  • Has there been any fix for this? I can use V 4.17.1 successfully, but when i update the app to the latest version I get the same error message - 'explicitly returned:False'.

  • When are you getting it exactly? When installing the Garmin Connect Mobile application? When starting it? Or when loading some page or function? Could you post screenshot of the screen with the error, and the screen that preceeded it?

  • It happens when signing in to the Connect App, but only with updated versions. I have an account registered to my email address, but when I try to sign in it gives me this error message and fails. Have hit 'Forgot Password' and reset it several times, and have also attempted to create a new account using a different email address, i get the same error. I have also tried using mobile data and using Wi-Fi, still no different.
Sending screenshots requires me to delete the APKMirror sourced version i've just reinstalled (4.17.1), install the updated version, screenshot the error message, and then uninstall the app, and reinstall 4.17.1 from APKMirror.....! I can do if it's necessary.

This is happening when I first open the app after updating to the latest version, when I attempt to sign in, immediately after ticking the boxes to say 'Yes I've read the EULA, and Yes I'm 16 years old or older'.

Is that enough info to go on?! Thanks in advance for any help you are able to give me! :)

  • Yes, I understand that it would be a bit complicated to redo all the operations. I thought I could perhaps spot something that would help finding the culprit, but it is not even certain, so I won't push you doing it all again. However, I won't be able helping much, since it indeed looks like a possible bug in the recent version, when it works with the old one. Likely only in combination with some pecular configuration / OS version, because it does not happen to most others. I suggest contacting the support, they should be abe to help, or at least they can report it to the developers.

  • Thanks for your answers I appreciate you getting back to me.

I'll try to contact support and see what they can do to help - that's what I thought I had done by commenting here. Where else is there to contact Garmin directly, do you know?.

In the meantime I'll also see if there's any OS updates available from Android. I'm using an HTC One M9, it's a few years old now, but I think the latest OS is still supported.

Thanks again for your help, have a good day.

The easiest way, and likely preferable by Garmin too, is contacting them through GC Mobile Menu » Help » Product Support. In that way they can also have you sending them some diagnostics report of your phone. Although you can't do it with the concerned GC version, it still may be helpful.
